To think that overheating does not mean she is in anyway unhealthy or unfit. New York can be very warm this time of year and it's only early September.

So many on Twitter questioning her health and whether that makes her good enough to be president. Tbh I would choose a brain dead Clinton over trump anyday. Good she's expected to be president not an Olympic athlete.

I think they're planning for a dirty bomb myself. The Germans.

PausingFlatly · 12/09/2016 16:36

Everyone should be planning for a dirty bomb.

The UK has done planning for all kinds of attack for donkey's years. It's why on 7/7 so many things just clicked into action.

Check out this lot, if it interests you: www.gov.uk/government/policies/emergency-planning

In particular, for what you can do at a personal level, you may like this one www.gov.uk/government/publications/preparing-for-emergencies/preparing-for-emergencies, which has a good collection of links from preparing an Oh Fuck Rucksack to preparing your personal Flood Plan.

For some reason, UK plans don't seem to include much in the way of household-level stockpiling. But that may be because after assessing infrastructure, they're relying on stockpiling at the retailer level or by the military. We have enough floods and bust major water mains cutting off whole residential areas in one swoop, so they get plenty of practice.

When trump becomes president he may not be the war mongerer everyone predicts. There certainly won't be any wars with Russia. I suspect he would more likely become friends with the various world dictators. Distasteful as this seems , perhaps it is better for world wide stability.

WallisofWindsor · 12/09/2016 16:46

Well who knows- look what happened when 'my' Edward abdicated - Grin

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 12/09/2016 16:47

I can manage without the translations, thanks! [grin{

Look, I'm not a drama llama, and I haven't stocked up yet, but something's brewing.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 12/09/2016 16:51

And if anything the UK should issue proper advice on what people should have or do for an emergency.
So we don't all lurk on the Prepper's board.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 12/09/2016 16:52

Sorry, by issue I mean properly publicise.

Childrenofthestones · 12/09/2016 17:11

Meanwhile back on the thread......
Is there any drama no matter how minor, that her team can't manage to turn into a crisis.?
The pneumonia was diagnosed on Friday, she attends the memorial on Sunday has to leave early and collapses. The video which by any standard looked bloody awful, goes round the world (albeit she came out of her daughter's apartment smiling 2hrs later) and it still takes them seven hours to release the news of the diagnosis.
On Friday night when they knew the score a news reporter was told to get a life by her staff when he asked a question about her health.
They do themselves no favours if they want people to take them at their word.

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 17:55

Here's my REAL conspiracy theory view!

HC's problems were hidden for months and months and months. Now not only do they have to be reported but the whole tone of the mainstream media has changed (see the pst above about the World at One - also every news outlet today). They are laying into how this damages her chances.

It's my tinfoil hat view that they have been given the quiet go ahead to hammer this, so that she can be replaced without controversy by Joe Biden. Because they know now that HC cannot beat Donald Trump, and Donald Trump cannot be allowed to win.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/09/2016 19:03

They do themselves no favours if they want people to take them at their word

I'm no great admirer of Trump either - FWIW I can't stand either of them - but let's not forget that what happens when they're in office isn't just about the president's wishes. Plenty of them have found their "projects" thwarted by congress, and whether that's a good or bad thing, at least it saves us all from some of their sillier ideas

Adnerb95 · 12/09/2016 19:39

Ah well, if it's the Daily Express, it's bound to be true! 😱

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 12/09/2016 19:58

Whatever her situation what has happened is bad news for her campaign

She has two weeks before the tv debates to convince the public that she hasn't been hiding anything and to get herself in a position so that she is physically and mentally up to

www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/12-perfect-responses-to-hillary-clinton-being-a-human-and-getting-sick_us_57d6b298e4b00642712e5a65?
including the slightly funny...

"To press lamenting @HillaryClinton's health/transparency: "powering through" illness is what women do: Stoically, every. single. day."

"This is the first time Republicans have cared about a woman's health."

"It's possible Hillary didn't think to alert everyone to her illness b/c like most women since the dawn of time, she works when she's sick."

"Wait, so Hillary has PNEUMONIA and she's still campaigning as hard as she is? You realize how badass that is, right?"

WinchesterWoman · 12/09/2016 21:27

Yeah that line ain't gonna fly but good effort

ginghamstarfish · 13/09/2016 10:19

Feel sorry for her to be in the limelight with this - she must be exhausted from the campaigning, surely much more of a slog than actually being president? She was formally dressed and surrounded by people in very hot and humid conditions. NYC weather at this time is oppressive for anyone.

Butkin · 13/09/2016 13:36

DT has never been so short in the betting now - only 7/4 to be President! HC is now backable at 4/7 - a fraction of what she was a couple of months ago.

In what was once a 2 horse race Joe Biden has slowly contracted and is now 20/1.

Her VP - Tim Kaine - is now 50/1 (66s in places) and may be worth a small wager in case she does pull out at the last moment.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 13/09/2016 14:33

If Hilary had to pull out of the race would Tim Kaine automatically take her place ?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2016 14:39

Enthusiasm apparently it would be a matter for the party to decide. Obviously there wouldn't be all the primaries etc again, so in effect they could replace her with whoever they liked - though no doubt Tim Kain would expect to be a strong contender

WinchesterWoman · 13/09/2016 14:42

Talk I've heard is the current VP?

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 13/09/2016 14:46

Reading up about him he might be the better person to beat Trump as people don't have such strong opinions about him

Hilary has never been popular for many she is the better choice but not necessarily who they want to see as president. Has her political clout and ambition got in the way of what is best for the Democratic Party maybe up until a few months ago it didn't matter so much but now Trump has done the unthinkable it is

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2016 16:45

for many (Hillary) is the better choice but not necessarily who they want to see as president

I think you've very much nailed it there - certainly most of the ordinary, decent Americans I know can hardly believe it's come to a choice like this

Trouble is it's a bit late for major changes now unless she really does drop out, and then I honestly can't see how Trump wouldn't win

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/09/2016 16:51

BTW I've just checked the dates and it seems the first presidential debate is slated for 26 September

Given that she'll almost certainly be scrutinized for every blink and twitch, let's just hope for HC's sake that she's in a fit state to take part

WinchesterWoman · 13/09/2016 17:06

I wonder if there;s a situation whether they don't drop HC as candidate, but if she's not well enough to debate, Tim Kaine stands in. I have no idea, I'm musing.

Adnerb95 · 13/09/2016 17:52

I've had pneumonia and I know how debilitating it is. She is demonstrating remarkable resilience and physical health by continuing. And as for her not being physically fit to be President, anyone can get pneumonia. It's completely illogical.
By all accounts, the Donald is very lazy so I doubt he would be powering through a nasty illness like this.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 13/09/2016 18:15

It's not really just about her having pneumonia it's her health has been questioned for some time now its getting close to the tv debates and right now she isn't physically fit enough. she really needs to be soon both physically and mentally. She is up against an opponent who is very confident in his ability to do the job and he is getting more confident by the day

Being unwell, not appearing to be up to the challange right now is very very damaging for her chances.
