Unreasonable curry disgrace

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 22:36

Blinking flip. I'm visiting my parents. They live in a town in the north of England. Takeaway curry required as its Friday.

AIBU to think that the vegetarian curry shouldn't contain Brussel sprouts. And it was bland. Yuk.

Any other disgusting curry ingredients?

Kormas. Yogurt and coconut?! That's a dessert Grin

ImNotJoeMyNameIsHarry · 19/08/2016 22:40

Have you noticed how the chefs who do the vegetarian meals have never heard of a knife. I had half an onion in one of them. Not cut any further than that.

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 22:42

Indeed. But this was a frozen mixed veg in crappy sauce. Rubbish. With sprouts. The paneer starter was nice though. Real paneer.

Vegetarian curry is a disgrace.

Some foods just don't work well as veggie alternatives.

Planty18 · 19/08/2016 22:45

Sprouts?! Jesus.

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 22:46

Well we live further south and the veggie curry is always nice. But they have no sprouts.

Sprouts in a curry? In the north of England? Where the hell are you?!

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 19/08/2016 22:47

Are sprouts ever acceptable?

They're kind of a Christmas joke. Not proper food.

It's one of those things no one likes but eats because of tradition. Like wedding cake.

MiddleClassProblem · 19/08/2016 22:47

With half of India being veggie, it is a wonder how the standard style curry house don't tend to them well. I think it's getting better though, in the south at least!

StealthPolarBear · 19/08/2016 22:48

Veggie curry should have mushrooms onions brocillo cauliflower, maybe pepper and mange tout.

But whenever I buy it it always seems to contain nasties like half a carrot aubergine sweet potato

carbcraver · 19/08/2016 22:49

Raisins Angry

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 22:49

Imperial I grew up here. We've been researching my family history and my mam's side have been there for generations but I wil never ever ever get a take away from here again.

It is north east England.

StealthPolarBear · 19/08/2016 22:49

Never had sprout in a curry. Do you think they got the idea from bottom?

PickAChew · 19/08/2016 22:49

Better to order a thali for a decent load of veggie curries.

StealthPolarBear · 19/08/2016 22:50

Ooh where goth we've just had a takeaway too

MrsHathaway · 19/08/2016 22:51

I put sprouts in the Boxing Day samosas, I must admit. But shredded, not whole; spiced, not bland.

Sprouts in August is a travesty.

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 22:51

I love spouts generally but not unexpectedly in a curry. Though to be fair it did just say mixed vegetable jalfrasi.

It annoying thing is when I get chopsticks to eat it yet I still need to use a night. Also from the north east gothgirl Grin

StealthPolarBear · 19/08/2016 22:51

Oh yes and anything that should be dessert, raisins, pineapple

MiddleClassProblem · 19/08/2016 22:52

I do like sprouts though but not much I don't eat 😂

ImNotJoeMyNameIsHarry · 19/08/2016 22:52

Knife not night

MiddleClassProblem · 19/08/2016 22:52

Raisins in curry is like school dinners curry

weeblueberry · 19/08/2016 22:53

I thought you meant a bean sprout initially and was like....hmm yeah I suppose that's a bit weird. Then I realised what you meant and genuinely went Shock

DollyBarton · 19/08/2016 22:53

I adore sprouts, but not in curry I think!

Laughing at people who think vegetarian curry is weird.

StealthPolarBear · 19/08/2016 22:54
