Unreasonable curry disgrace

Blinking flip. I'm visiting my parents. They live in a town in the north of England. Takeaway curry required as its Friday.

AIBU to think that the vegetarian curry shouldn't contain Brussel sprouts. And it was bland. Yuk.

Any other disgusting curry ingredients?

I had a curry once, a Chinese one and it had sliced banana in. This was in south Birmingham.

Of the place on the restaurant, that would be tricky

whattheseithakasmean · 19/08/2016 22:58

vegetarian curry is a disgrace

Erm, you do realise most of India is vegetarian - chicken tikka masala is madey up to please westerners.

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 22:58

Stealth.

The land of the Mackenzie.

OMG - can you even get sprouts in August?

My Mil would manage to make some kind of excellent pickle from sprouts, or almost anything, but I don't think this excuses your takeaway, It is worse than 'unreasonable' - I have upgraded it to 'Outrageous'.

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 22:59

Aargh mackems

England?
North Yorkshire?

BroomhildaVonShaft · 19/08/2016 23:00

Some foods just don't work well as veggie alternatives

You know most curry in India is vegetarian right?

StealthPolarBear · 19/08/2016 23:00

Oh ok :)

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 23:00

Blu. I think it was just frozen mixed veg. In a crappy sauce.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 19/08/2016 23:00

That's a good point they must have been frozen

Blu · 19/08/2016 23:02

Fuck.
Can you come straight home before anything worse happens?
Has the last train left?

SonicSpotlight · 19/08/2016 23:03

Mixed vegetable curry too often means they've tipped a bag of frozen mixed veg into a curry sauce. I order dahl and a veggie side dish or starter with spinach or aubergine.

MrsGsnow18 · 19/08/2016 23:03

I used to always make curry after Christmas with leftovers. I love sprouts and thought nothing of adding a few the first Christmas DH and I lived together.
He's never let me make Christmas curry again Blush

They must be tiny button sprouts though not big manky ones or mushy frozen kind!

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 23:05

Well usually I order paneer sonic you're right but I thought I'd order a main course too. Never again.

WTAFF · 19/08/2016 23:06

Try one of the takeaways on ocean road in South Shields next time. I've never had a sprout....

SonicSpotlight · 19/08/2016 23:06

It's weird because it seems to happen at really good places and the so-so ones. Maybe the better ones use frozen veg from Waitrose Grin

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 23:06

I promise they were nasty sprouts. Seriously. And not a nice surprise.

Sparklesilverglitter · 19/08/2016 23:07

Oh OP sorry you had a rubbish curry, do you have wine to console yourself ? 🍷

I loke a good veg curry, but frozen veg and Brussels sprouts sounds a bit rubbish.
me and dh have been to India a few times and most curries they have are vegetarian.

Gothgirl78 · 19/08/2016 23:08
