Unreasonable curry disgrace

Blinking flip. I'm visiting my parents. They live in a town in the north of England. Takeaway curry required as its Friday.

AIBU to think that the vegetarian curry shouldn't contain Brussel sprouts. And it was bland. Yuk.

Any other disgusting curry ingredients?

Some foods just don't work well as veggie alternatives

You're kidding me right? Half ofnindia is vegetarian!

OP there is a curry house near me that does that horrible frozen stew pack veg in sauce as their 'mixed veg'. Horrible.

OP, your thread title sounds like a racehorse from "The Day Today":o

I always get a few sprouts in my vegetable dhansak, it makes me laugh Grin (I'm in Yorkshire). You can get fresh sprouts year round in the supermarkets, but agree that frozen veg is depressing in a takeaway!

TrickyD · 20/08/2016 11:19

DH makes excellent curry when he is using up the left over veggies and the Brussels Sprouts are my favourite component. Deliciious . I can't understand the sproutism on here.

Riverganges · 20/08/2016 11:57

We are Indian - I hate Brussels sprouts but my children and husband love my version of stuffed brussel sprouts. They are stuffed with Indian spices, garlic, ginger, chilli, nuts and then roasted - kind of a dry curry. They will eat so many Brussels this way, we get through bags and bags at Christmas!

Blu · 20/08/2016 12:38

For veggie options we usually go for a selection of bhajji rather than a labelled vegetarian main course.

Daal, sag aloo, brinjal, mutter paneer etc.

South Indian dhosi are the best, OP, come to Tooting.

Gothgirl78 · 20/08/2016 12:49

River your Brussel sprouts sound lovely.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Brought up on dosas and idlis!

MiddleClassProblem · 20/08/2016 13:01

Also love a pani put I but I think it depends what's in it. My aunt makes the best dahi vada I've ever had. Not had the same in a restaurant.

LordRothermereBlackshirtCunt · 20/08/2016 13:03

Oooooh, dosas. Yum! Can't get them where I live, sadly. I tried to make them once and the dosas stuck to the tava. I'm going to south India in December and plan to stuff my face!

BarbaraofSeville · 20/08/2016 17:29

Hmm at vegetable curry being considered the alternative option.

I live in West Yorkshire. We have several restaurants that sell nothing but Asian vegetarian food and at least 2 are renowned nationwide.

BarbaraofSeville · 20/08/2016 17:31

Sprout curry is a disgrace though but I can see that a dry spiced dish could be nice.

MiddleClassProblem · 20/08/2016 17:32

Like Prashad? That place is lush. I'm hungry now.

Elledouble · 20/08/2016 19:14

Waiting for our curry now! We're having veg dhansak (will watch out for sprouts), paneer shashlik, cauliflower bhaji, Bombay aloo, pilau rice and paratha Smile

Nobodysproblem · 20/08/2016 19:29

gosh, I live in Sunderland so would love to know which monstrosity is guilty of putting sprouts in it! There's some real delights on Just Eat if you're feeling brave and want suggestions!

EatingMyWords · 20/08/2016 19:39

I live in the uncultural wasteland of SE Northumberland but have never had sprouts in curry! Will treat Sunderland with suspicion if I visit for a curry.

MiddleClassProblem · 20/08/2016 23:10

I had curry tonight too Grin

PlymouthMaid1 · 21/08/2016 00:23

I had sprouts in a restaurant curry about thirty years ago and have never forgotten the trauma. I make !ove!y veggie curries. Khr fave is mushroom, paneer a d spinach rogan josh.
