Is it me or has there been a lot less activity on MN recently?

It could be me...but it seems there's less new threads happening...anyone else noticed this? It's probably been in the past month or maybe two that I've noticed.

Agree with WellErr, this thread is a perfect example of why MN is completely shit at the moment.

I only really look at the referendum threads now as it's all I'm interested in, so my MN usage has more than halved. ( I cringe now at how much time I wasted on here )
But that aside, I have a feeling social media in general has peaked ( what normal person wants to spend large chunks of their life arguing with strangers? ) I know it's not a popular view, but MN's hay day was about 5 years ago.

MangoMoon - so if you read all the posts, why do you think Crystal's posts are more provocative than Kate's?

I can't see what's provocative about saying the worst thing was the result.

Me neither. But, I have seen threads descend into attacking posters (not saying that's exactly what's happening here btw), and thought afterwards, 'I wish I'd stuck up for that person. What they said was completely reasonable, and now they're feeling vulnerable and victimised'.

So I do try to get involved a bit more often, because MN is actually really important. It's a place where women's views take front and centre position, and believe me, that is rare.

I think Crystal's posts were provocative, Kate was arguing her own case then ended up as a lone voice surrounded by people backing up Crystal, so then Kate got defensive at the same time as Crystal appeared to become buoyed by other posters' support.
That's when crystal started behaving more twatty towards Kate on a more personal level & then Kate retaliated.

It's really fucking pathetic.

Agree that Kate's 'hand-wringing Remainers' comment may have touched a nerve or two though.

My only 'claim' was that it turned unpleasant and Brexit centres once a few Remain voters rocked up. For whatever reasons. That's not wrong.

But anyway, I'm hiding it now as it's just yet another shitty horrible thread with people being childish and pathetic and nit picking. So if I don't reply, that's why - not because I've been flooded by someone's unassailable wit.
