Is it me or has there been a lot less activity on MN recently?

It could be me...but it seems there's less new threads happening...anyone else noticed this? It's probably been in the past month or maybe two that I've noticed.

OP posts:

No WellErr is right

People were discussing what has changed about mn and it's now turned into a referendum thread with people bitching at each other

NickiFury · 11/07/2016 13:15

I would never ever start a personal thread anymore.

This.

From what I can see a lot of regular posters have moved to groups on FB and are having a lot more fun! Personally that's where I ask for advice now and it feels more personal and kinder in there.

NickiFury · 11/07/2016 13:17

No wellerr said that some "remainers" had turned up together on here and it turned unpleasant. That's not what happened and the posts all stand so you can see it for yourself.

CrystalMcPistol · 11/07/2016 13:18

'From what I can see a lot of regular posters have moved to groups on FB and are having a lot more fun!'

I think I'd feel way too visible on Facebook.

WellErrr · 11/07/2016 13:19

Well it's true. Whenever the referendum is mentioned with more than 1 Remainer in the vicinity it turns ugly.

However it happens, it happens. It's not always outward nastiness, but the bitterness and tension.

And this thread was no different. Case and point.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 11/07/2016 13:19

WellErr

What does this mean "The only one to have turned this thread unpleasant is Brexit" ?

This was a thread about a number of different things until Kate delivered her lectures on Brexit at 10.20 and 11.22. Until then it didn't particularly dominate the conversation.

NickiFury · 11/07/2016 13:19

It's in secret groups crystal.

YouTheCat · 11/07/2016 13:21

So there you go.

CrystalMcPistol · 11/07/2016 13:22

I get the feeling that some people would be happy if any mentions of Brexit on MN were made solely by people who voted Leave.

PortiaCastis · 11/07/2016 13:26

I think anyone can write about whatever they want but whichever side of the fence you sit please don't be insulting and name call.

SovietKitsch · 11/07/2016 13:29

Exactly this type of thread is why I can't be arsed any more...it's got so serious! I care too much about Brexit just to brush it off, but I want some escape from it, but all the threads here are either made up of destined for the daily mail...Urgh...definitely a bad mixture of too earnest and complete bollox!

ThomasRichard · 11/07/2016 13:30

I have in the past few days gone to write a response and thought 'I can't be bothered'.

Me too, except for the past year or so. By the time I've put my thoughts into MN-speak so I won't get biscuited, flamed or picked to pieces, I may as well not bother.

ReluctantCamper · 11/07/2016 13:33

Certainly going by this thread, the trigger for it getting nasty was crystal saying she's unhappy with the referendum result. That's pretty much exactly what she said.

It is ok to say that.

WellErrr · 11/07/2016 13:33

I get the feeling that some people would be happy if any mentions of Brexit on MN were made solely by people who voted Leave.

Here's an example of the shitty attitude and unpleasant atmosphere which is making this place such bloody hard work to wade around at the moment.

NickiFury · 11/07/2016 13:35

"Yet if you read the majority of threads started by hand-wringing Remainers (I normally have more patience, sorry) their worries are selfish ones."

I thought it was this myself.

CrystalMcPistol · 11/07/2016 13:35

What is shitty about my attitude? That's exactly the feeling I'm getting from you. You're determined to be annoyed by anyone who doesn't share your opinions. Yet you refuse to see that you're part of the problem. Open your eyes woman.

CrystalMcPistol · 11/07/2016 13:37

I don't think I've posted in MN in ages, certainly not since Brexit, yet I'm the baddie.

WellErrr · 11/07/2016 13:38

You're determined to be annoyed by anyone who doesn't share your opinions. Yet you refuse to see that you're part of the problem. Open your eyes woman.

Lovely.

CrystalMcPistol · 11/07/2016 13:39

But it's true!

NickiFury · 11/07/2016 13:41

wellerr the thread has not rolled out the way you keep claiming it has and the posts stand so everyone can see that, yet you just keep piling more inaccuracies on top Grin

SovietKitsch · 11/07/2016 13:41

Crystal 's right...

YouTheCat · 11/07/2016 13:42

Why is it wrong to say the worst thing was the result? Many people share that opinion, even some who voted to leave.

It's not casting any judgement on people, just the result.

Also, I agree with Nicki. I'm no 'hand wringer' and I find the term very PA.

ReluctantCamper · 11/07/2016 13:43

I quite enjoyed spending my lunch hour combing back through the thread to see whose interpretation was correct!

WellErr and Kate, it's not yours.

I'm guessing there have been some pretty fighty threads and people are feeling very bruised.

MangoMoon · 11/07/2016 13:45

Certainly going by this thread, the trigger for it getting nasty was crystal saying she's unhappy with the referendum result. That's pretty much exactly what she said.

No.

It was Crystal posting:

The constant whining from the people who voted Leave about how everyone has been so mean to them. Tedious in the extreme.

You seem determined to play the victim though. Why is that?

I'm not sure you're all that nice in real life.

proper victim mentality there.

That's what made this thread take a shitty turn.

NickiFury · 11/07/2016 13:47

Yet if you read the majority of threads started by hand-wringing Remainers (I normally have more patience, sorry) their worries are selfish ones.

All those comments came after the above from Kate. More where that came from too, if you read her posts.
