Is it me or has there been a lot less activity on MN recently?

It could be me...but it seems there's less new threads happening...anyone else noticed this? It's probably been in the past month or maybe two that I've noticed.

OP posts:

Maybe it's because some of the people on here just seem to be goading for a fight. You can't seem to say anything without someone being vile

ElspethFlashman · 10/07/2016 19:42

I noticed too that Active Threads moves at the speed of treacle these days. Strange.

So....which Reddit subs are you guys on?

Thinking about it, I am getting wound up that Brexiters expect Remainers to stay polite.

Tis why I have mostly stayed away for a couple of weeks.

katemiddletonsnudeheels · 10/07/2016 20:23

VERY self indulgent, Cameron.

Good post.

TheScottishPlay · 10/07/2016 20:26

A lot of threads are only for one or two posters as well. I posted on one earlier only to be told it was a private joke between two posters. Confused

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/07/2016 20:28

Ha ha! Very funny x post with previous poster Grin

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/07/2016 20:29

I meant the one who did the long post about "it's not so bad stop moaning"

But why, bibbity?

Politeness is erm, a basic matter of respect isn't it?

NeedACleverNN · 10/07/2016 20:35

It would be a shame if something like the referendum broke mn.

Life in general goes on as normal. I have yet to see anyone stand in the street, ask what they voted and then throw abuse if it wasn't the same. Yet on mn it was open game at one point

MangoMoon · 10/07/2016 21:03

Totally agree with Cameron's post.

dudsville · 10/07/2016 21:07

I also think Brexit head a lot to do with it. By the time I've deleted all of those threads in addition to the ones I usually clear I seem to find myself in the dusty back corner of mn where threads tend to be quite short lived.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/07/2016 21:13

Well yes Katemnh, in real life, but not online. I am not obliged to mingle with anyone here so I choose to withdraw rather than get embroiled.

derxa · 10/07/2016 21:19

I am a bit obsessed with Brexit and can't really be bothered with 'light hearted' or teacher bashing threads

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/07/2016 21:23

To quote Cameron: I haven't treated anyone like garbage, I haven't shared any hysterical memes on Facebook, I haven't signed the petition for a re-count, I haven't spoken to my one family member who voted Leave, I haven't got into any argument with any individual or spouted any vitriol.

But I think the result is just horrible and potentially catastrophic and I cannot see a single bright side. It has been the thing dominating my thoughts for a few weeks. So this is why I haven't felt like joshing around on Mumsnet.

panegyricS1 · 10/07/2016 21:24

Cameron's post sums it up.

WellErrr · 10/07/2016 21:26

Snarky people, BREXIT, trolls and the fun police mainly.

Yep. Brexit mainly. People who voted Remain were unbelievably vicious, nasty and unpleasant. It was and still is awful.

In fact, I'd say the (majority of the) Remain voters' attitude was the worst thing about the referendum. From the way that any debate was shut down with calls of 'YOU RACIST!' pre vote, to the absolute vitriol and 'you stupid bastards you shouldn't have been allowed to vote you fucking cunts you've ruined EVERYTHING' it was just awful.

Very eye-opening, and by far and away the most unpleasant part of the referendum.

I did hide the topic and it improved after that but I was pretty disgusted by then and giving the place a wide berth.

80schild · 10/07/2016 21:38

Brexit hasn't changed the site, it has just highlighted what an awful place it is on here. A bit like the way remainers think that racism didn't happen before. It has always happened - they just didn't notice because a lot of them (me actually) live in a bubble, in a nice area with average families and we don't actually appreciate the lives people have away from it.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/07/2016 21:40

As I said, I've avoided all the referendum threads til now.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an intelligent op ed or article which will illustrate how life is going to improve in the UK in the next few years? Could do with cheering up! Thanks.

SwedishEdith · 10/07/2016 21:42

Me too derxa. I'm not interested in slagging voters off but I am interested in scrutiny of politicians. Life does feel more serious atm,

Surferjet · 10/07/2016 21:45

If MN is going to survive, they really have to introduce a 'block poster' option. FB, Twitter, netmums, all the big social media sites have it.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 10/07/2016 21:51

I think a block poster option would be nice SurferJet, but not essential to MN survival.

BolshierAryaStark · 10/07/2016 21:54

Block poster isn't the answer, sorry. I may not agree with a posters particular stance on one thread but the same person may make me laugh on another, similarly there are posters whom I agree with most of the time who occasionally make me think wtf?

Surferjet · 10/07/2016 21:55

Yeah ok, maybe I was being a bit over dramatic, but it really would help.
