I'm seeing more amd more ridiculous "God save the queen" type posts on Facebook. Aibu to be sick and tired of it all. She's 90, big deal, lots didn't get to that age because of a lifetimes poverty and hard work. I mean real work not signing a few papers and getting chauffeured about.

Well she certainly hasn't looked like she' enjoying it so far - anybody seen her smile yet?

And re the argument that the royals bring in so much tourism & money - France has the most tourism in the world and look what they did to their royal family...

I love it all. One street from me is having a street party to celebrate. Our school had a big birthday celebration for the children and parents to participate in yesterday. I love all the patriotism.

There's a topic for this sort of thing isn't there? It is a bit of a MN favourite subject. Every time they do anything there's a royalty bashing thread.

SoupDragon · 11/06/2016 18:13

The Monarchy is a regular cause for debate on here.

It's a Triplus rehashing of the same dull arguments whenever something Royal is in the news.

Is that ok with you?

Since you ask, no. Wink

SoupDragon · 11/06/2016 18:13

Fuck knows what Triplus is. Confused Tedious

seagaze · 11/06/2016 18:14

Anyway it balances out all the royal fawning we see on the telly to be able to have a good moan about them all.

giving employment to people (mostly national minimum wage) is no argument for keeping a royal family.

Please point out where I said it was.

It's been wall to wall on radio 4 today ... Left wing bias? I wish!

Wow the queen has never ever missed the trooping of the colour. Well done her, and thank you for this amazing service to all of us. Here's a fuckton of money.

SoupDragon · 11/06/2016 18:16

I'm still intrigued as to why the OP joined/name changed/came out of lurking just to whinge about this.

Well thank you sparkling, but who made you queen of MN? Grin

cruikshank · 11/06/2016 18:20

Isn't this about the fourth 90th birthday that she's had? I thought there was some kind of concert or something just the other week and then something in Parliament as well. Or have I been hallucinating? I was genuinely surprised to find out that this is a birthday weekend for her too. Is it like dog years or something if you're Royal?

You'd probably get done for treason or something. And don't they still cut your head off for that?

No if your intention is to start a Royalty bunfight you probably need to stick to AiBU 'for traffic' and maximum frothing. Wink

cruikshank · 11/06/2016 18:24

Fuck me, Sir Thumbsup and fucking Gerbil Hair on the same bill - she's done fucking well to get to 90 with those bumclowns following her around and singing at her with every passing birthday.

After watching the celebrations today I'm even more determined to be in the UK for next years Birthday Trooping of The Colour.

No one does it the way Britain does.

Happy Birthday Ma'am

LaConnerie · 11/06/2016 18:25

Btw can I shamelessly request bumps for the thread I've just started on 'site stuff' asking for a Republican topic...
