DS is at a friend's house for a sleepover. The mother just text me to say he's been great, they've had a great time and they had a Chinese for dinner, so I can give her the money for his meal 'tomorrow, or whenever I have it.'

She must be joking right?

I can't do that!

Despite some people on here thinking I'm an outright cunt, I'm really not!

PaulAnkaTheDog · 28/05/2016 10:30

I can't wait to hear what she says!

TheCrumpettyTree · 28/05/2016 10:35

Because you clearly forced her to give your child take away? Wtf? I hope she's joking. Hmm

youarenotkiddingme · 28/05/2016 10:37

You've discussed parenting sites?

Well she wanted to know what ones you use - now she does Wink

I hope it gets sorted at pick up. Sometimes these things happen and once discussed turn out to be much less of an issue than first felt.

TheUnsullied · 28/05/2016 10:43

I wouldn't bother trying to be witty or passive aggressive. I'd just message back saying "This is a joke, right? You can't actually be serious considering you know I've taken the lads for dinner multiple times before and never charged you for it? If this is how we're doing things going forward, can you check with me beforehand so I can work out if I can afford to let him come to yours?"

whois · 28/05/2016 10:51

Surely you just have to laugh it off at pick up and say "you must be joking, al the times I've fed your son we can just call it quits"

If she actually presses you for the money it will be outrageous!

Sunnsoo · 28/05/2016 10:53

Life's too short, op.

Pay the couple of quid and move on.

eddielizzard · 28/05/2016 10:56

i'd text:

hmm in that case i should have charged you for dominoes, yo sushi etc. so i can work out your bill and we can settle up or how about we call it quits in the name of hospitality and friendship?

karalime · 28/05/2016 10:56

'Sure no problem, how much? I'll take it off the cost of the 5 dinners your son has had a mine recently. I'll be around for the rest when I collect ds, see you soon!'

BlokesAllowed · 28/05/2016 10:57

The cheeky mare! Shock

It's the sort of situation where I would pay, just to be the bigger person, but what about next time??

I think your plan on pickup is perfect!

pictish · 28/05/2016 11:05

I agree with Unsullied - I'd go along with however much his meal cost, hand it over, then say, "You know I've taken the lads for dinner multiple times before and never charged you for it? If this is how we're doing things going forward, can you check with me beforehand so I can work out if I can afford to let him come to yours. I'll also know to expect payment for your lad when he participates with us. Cheers for having him."

CaptainCrunch · 28/05/2016 11:09

If she's serious it would kill the friendship for me. I can't be bothered with petty tight fisted bastards.

Salmotrutta · 28/05/2016 11:10

I hope she was joking!

And hurry up Paul - aren't you back yet?

Flyingfruit · 28/05/2016 11:14

Please tell me it was a joke..

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 28/05/2016 11:18

I need to know how this went! What a mean cow
