DS is at a friend's house for a sleepover. The mother just text me to say he's been great, they've had a great time and they had a Chinese for dinner, so I can give her the money for his meal 'tomorrow, or whenever I have it.'

She must be joking right?

I hope it gets sorted at pick up. Sometimes these things happen and once discussed turn out to be much less of an issue than first felt.

I wouldn't bother trying to be witty or passive aggressive. I'd just message back saying "This is a joke, right? You can't actually be serious considering you know I've taken the lads for dinner multiple times before and never charged you for it? If this is how we're doing things going forward, can you check with me beforehand so I can work out if I can afford to let him come to yours?"

Surely you just have to laugh it off at pick up and say "you must be joking, al the times I've fed your son we can just call it quits"

If she actually presses you for the money it will be outrageous!

hmm in that case i should have charged you for dominoes, yo sushi etc. so i can work out your bill and we can settle up or how about we call it quits in the name of hospitality and friendship?
