DS is at a friend's house for a sleepover. The mother just text me to say he's been great, they've had a great time and they had a Chinese for dinner, so I can give her the money for his meal 'tomorrow, or whenever I have it.'

She must be joking right?

She's cracking banter! We go for drinks etc, so friends as well as parents to friends. Poor joke? Hope so!

Omg princess Hollie!!!! I can't believe that happened! Shock these small things are such an eye opener though aren't they?

Op - let us know how the pick up goes tomorrow!

IggyPopsicle · 28/05/2016 00:35

If its meant as a joke then its an exceedingly shit one.

I'm not sticking up for the other mother but could see possibly think;

That when her children are with you, the food has always been cooked by you (obviously you've still bloody bought the food!) and so in her mind you haven't spent any money?

She has then paid for a takeaway and so in her mind, she is out of pocket?

A massive leap to make I know, but it's all I can think of.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 28/05/2016 00:43

Asprilla Nope! She knows he's had Dominos at ours, I've taken him to YO Sushi for lunch etc.

She must be joking. (My mantra until pick up tomorrow)

Ah ok OP, then yes it can only be a joke then, or time for a new friend Grin

TrillKitten · 28/05/2016 01:00

Um.. can you reply back in a jokey tone something like "No worries, they ate their way through 2 pizzas last week, tell me how much it was and I'll take it off the tab ;) " That kind of thing? To playfully point out that you pay for her damn kid too!?

BeJayKayven · 28/05/2016 01:04

She wouldn't have said it if she didn't mean it. Some people are as tight as fuck.

Glovebug · 28/05/2016 01:06

How cheeky! Bill her for the food her child has eaten at yours

GasLightShining · 28/05/2016 01:12

Just can't believe some people

When my DC went for sleepovers the hosting parents paid for things.

The only exception was his one friend who would not sleepover anywhere so my DS slept there very frequently and we could never reciprocate. I would send him with treats and money

this Shock

KoalaDownUnder · 28/05/2016 03:00

She's not joking, as its not even funny.

Charging for birthday parties, charging guests for what they eat...MN is a real eye-opener these days.

Fecking bizarre and RUDE!

Hesalovernotabiter · 28/05/2016 03:19

I reckon she suspects you are a MN'er and she is trying to out you 😂

Champagneformyrealfriends · 28/05/2016 03:29

thisisnotausername Angry thats given me the rage. Poor baby-fancy considering giving your child away because you wanted different sex.

heyhulahoop · 28/05/2016 07:09

she had seemed so normal before that that I laughed thinking she was joking. She wasn't.

Oh as if** Hmm

PaulAnkaTheDog · 28/05/2016 08:43

I'm sorry, did I just see someone say their friend wanted to swap babies with someone?!

Can't resist place marking to find out whether it was a joke or not.

SuperFlyHigh · 28/05/2016 08:52

Place marking. This has potential unlike WolfAlice's chickened out of sporn! Grin

Haggisfish · 28/05/2016 08:55

Surely a joke?'
