Seems not only to be strongly arguing that all PIV is necessarily rape, but is incredulous that a feminist could think differently! AIBU to think this is bonkers or has the virtually the whole population of women (who don't think this way) just been brainwashed?!

Apparently I can't be a feminist and have started this thread?! Unless you believe that witchwind's views are a legitimate expression of feminism, then this is a bit like saying that a true Muslim can't criticise Isis, or a true socialist can't criticse Pol Pot, as those wishing to attack Islam/socialism on occasion cite these types of extremities as representative of the group as a way to undermine them..

In my opinion it is very important that the type of abhorrent views espoused by witchwind and her supporters (read her 'utopia' post on her blog if you think I exaggerate!) are shunned by feminists and called out as not representing the cause.

Going on the defensive when the likes of witchwind are brought up only serves to reinforce the view in those that are sceptical or on the margins of feminism that the movement does not represent them.... This weakens the feminist movement and the justice it seeks for women, and in so doing weakens the battle against the real gender-cide in India as mentioned by Vestal.

I didn't use the word femi-nazi lightly... It's most used by people who think that a particular feminist is being militant on this or that - when they are actually just being feminists who have the guts to stand up for themselves. Witchwind is far, far beyond that in her views - the views of her and her likeminded friends contain some truly shocking and revolting stuff.

Er, yes... I was responding to those appeared to think that my views somehow represented an attack on feminism.... Clearly much of the thread has been on other matters.

In much the same way I would expect every reasonable Muslim to disavow Isis... Muslims who refuse to condemn Isis only fan the flames of islamophobia.... Have you read the very many measured and interesting posts on this thread talking about PiV sex and whether it's a good idea to broaden our way of thinking about sex and the sexual transaction between men and women? About not just accepting the status quo and what we think of as the norms and just thinking and talking about it?
