For 3 days now not one of the buggers has given birth. They just lie there in their pregnant splendour. Not even bothering to get up and eat. I tootle round them on the quad bike every 2 hours. Not a sausage.

They're waiting till you decide not to look at them for a few hours, then find a nice ditch/bramble patch/nettlebed to deliver into. Because sheep are like that.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/05/2016 12:54

Do sheep eat raspberry leaves?

Oysterbabe · 17/05/2016 12:56

Hurry up sheep! We're hungry.

derxa · 17/05/2016 12:57

Do sheep eat raspberry leaves? Probably one of the many things which make them keel over and die. They can't eat curries and the rams don't want to have sex with them.

We had one with a serious death wish once. Old besom.

NewRags · 17/05/2016 13:04

I'm with you there - still waiting for 5 of ours to get on with it - all the rest have ten week old lambs ffs.

derxa · 17/05/2016 13:10

Our lambing is late anyway to tie in with shepherdess's hill lambing. There's about 50 out there all smug.

Awww lovely sheep! Post a pic?

Janefromuptheshops · 17/05/2016 13:13

OK, I've been watching this farming life on Iplayer.

I think you need to start wrestling them to the ground. That's what they all seem to do before the lambs are born.

derxa · 17/05/2016 13:17

Awww lovely sheep! Post a pic? I'll try There are some lovely twins in the front green.

How about pineapples - can they eat those?

derxa · 17/05/2016 13:29

Silage is OK but not pineapples. Maybe they're high on Crystalix licks

Pop a few birthing balls out there and play a bit of whale song.

Lolimax · 17/05/2016 13:33

Can you offer a sweep at the next ante-natal?

cozietoesie · 17/05/2016 13:36

Achh - they'll deliver in their own sweet time and (probably) at maximum inconvenience to you. Have you looked at the weather forecast recently? Any storms due?

derxa · 17/05/2016 13:37

Pop a few birthing balls out there and play a bit of whale song Maybe they've got secret birth plans that I don't know anything about. Water birth?

cozietoesie · 17/05/2016 13:39

Rain? Get ready for a 2 in the morning recce then. I know they'd probably opt for a howling gale but Hey - you take what you can get. Grin

WellErrr · 17/05/2016 13:43

Yep, they're waiting for it to piss down.

derxa · 17/05/2016 14:03

whojamaflip · 17/05/2016 14:17

I completely feel for you - our last one finally decided to get on with the job two weeks after the rest of her mates Shock still had to keep checking her though - dh was walking on eggshells by the end Grin

Good luck with it!
