For 3 days now not one of the buggers has given birth. They just lie there in their pregnant splendour. Not even bothering to get up and eat. I tootle round them on the quad bike every 2 hours. Not a sausage.

Shameless placemarking. I want to know what happens to the sheep!

VagueIdeas · 17/05/2016 17:45

I want to know more about the many things that make a sheep keel over and die.

Because I'm curious, not because I want to murder any sheep.

JinRamen · 17/05/2016 17:47

I love lambs!

Death Wish Sheep never found any, Vague. That didn't stop her trying though.

CMOTDibbler · 17/05/2016 17:54

Vagueideas, just about everything makes sheep keel over and try their hardest to die. No idea why, it's just one of those things

Congratulations! Flowers

The OP has gone very quiet. Any bets that she's out in the sheep fold up to her elbows? (Now that darkness has fallen. Wink)

LizKeen · 17/05/2016 22:32

I love sheep.

Not enough to stick my arm up one as a child mind. :o

stealthsquiggle · 17/05/2016 22:33

Finding new and interesting ways in which to die appears to be what passes for a hobby in sheep world.

Equiem89 · 17/05/2016 22:34

We need pics!

Idliketobeabutterfly · 17/05/2016 22:34

A baarmy idea

powershowerforanhour · 17/05/2016 22:47

Vague, keeling over is one thing that causes them to die. If they roll over on their backs with a full fleece they can get stuck like a beetle and die unless you come along and roll them onto their legs. No kidding.

cozietoesie · 17/05/2016 22:54

Death Wish Sheep would have survived - in fact, she probably tried that in the middle of the night when we were all in bed but righted herself without ill effect. (She certainly tried everything else.)

SingingSamosa · 18/05/2016 00:18

Sheep can eat raspberry leaves, and enjoy them. My ewes always polish off mine when I cut the canes down each autumn.

YANBU though in terms of being impatient. I waited three weeks for my last fat ewe to give birth, then realised she'd either bagged up in sympathy with her sisters or she'd absorbed the pregnancy earlier on but was still hormonal. Either way, she never gave birth to anything and I lost sooo much sleep checking her!

DramaAlpaca · 18/05/2016 00:25

Ooh, a lambing thread! Shameless place marking for news of newborn lambs Smile

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/05/2016 00:43

Aww. Baby lambs on the way. How sweet.
Would I be rude in assuming you're a farmer or married to one.

SingingSamosa · 18/05/2016 00:44

I don't have any lambs this year, I'm feeling quite bereft! I am, however, enjoying seeing what good condition my ewes are in having been shorn today. Usually at this time of year they are much skinnier from feeding massive and hungry twins or trips!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/05/2016 00:48

Awwwwwwww. Twins have been born. Isnt that beautiful and amazing.
I can feel myself welling up here. All that new life. Congratulations mummy on the birth of your gorgeous babies.
Please can you post a pic.
I just melt at the way little lambs jump around. I.could eeeeeeaaaaatttttt them
I'm just dotty about baby animals.

BeatBoxBroadway · 18/05/2016 00:52
