For 3 days now not one of the buggers has given birth. They just lie there in their pregnant splendour. Not even bothering to get up and eat. I tootle round them on the quad bike every 2 hours. Not a sausage.

Well - that's just typical. I tried everything, going on a night out, making endless cups of tea, planning things. Still no. If that foal had cooked much longer he would have been born ready for the 4yo classes Hmm

derxa · 18/05/2016 19:39

hollin I'm glad you're getting your rage out on here! Grin

Awwwwwwww. You must be so excited. Squeeeeeeeeee.

derxa · 18/05/2016 19:56

Well it is exciting. I'm on a knife edge. Grin The next excitement will be The Royal Highland Show and then the pedigree sales.

I would imagine both ewes and mares would take a robust "and that is my problem because.....?" attitude to any human expressing their frustration/exhaustion/rage at this point Grin

BeautyQueenFromMars · 18/05/2016 20:02

OH MY GOD MONKEY!!! They are the cutest and most adorable creatures I've ever seen.
derxa I'm very glad yours have started birthing (sorry, not sure of correct terminology, despite having read many James Herriot books).

cozietoesie · 18/05/2016 20:03

What breed are they?

londonrach · 18/05/2016 20:04

They soooooo cute!!!!!

monkeyfacegrace · 18/05/2016 20:06

Was that aimed at me cozie?

If so, Balwens.

They are going to taste amazing Grin

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/05/2016 20:08

Monkey. They're gorgeous. I want them

derxa · 18/05/2016 20:10

You and derxa both, monkey. Smile

monkeyfacegrace · 18/05/2016 20:14

You're all welcome to the little shit bags. They bleat loudly whenever they see me as they think I'm mum and demand a bottle. Every 4 hours. It's worse than a newborn!

But they are funny little souls. Bounce around the house like little loons and destroy my flower beds like pro's.

Ewe prolapsed and dropped 24 hours after birth, so I've had to hand rear them. They were too cute to have a lump hammer around the head and there wasn't an available ewe to attempt a foster.

derxa · 18/05/2016 20:15

Ours are Lleyns. They're Welsh and meant to be 'easy care'.

monkey i've read some of your posts before and i thought you were a townie Those sheep are great.

FoxSticks · 18/05/2016 20:19

I'm confused but loving the lamb updates. What does twin on, set on and skin on mean? Did the ewes die but the babies survived?

BumWad · 18/05/2016 20:20

So cute Smile

monkeyfacegrace · 18/05/2016 20:20

A townie Shock

I'm rural. Sort of. Semi rural.

Okay my friend is a farmer Grin

cozietoesie · 18/05/2016 20:22

Both sets of lambs are real good looking and well set.

derxa · 18/05/2016 20:28

FoxSticks A ewe who's lost her lamb can be persuaded to adopt a lamb through the sense of smell.

hollinhurst84 · 18/05/2016 20:28

derxa... Rage? Me? Grin
The last one has a white heart shape on his head so he was too cute to rage at

FoxSticks · 18/05/2016 20:33

Thanks Derxa Smile

stealthsquiggle · 18/05/2016 21:11

One of our neighbours has "easy care" sheep. It always gives me mental images of sheep that can be washed and tumble dried Grin and all the other farmers take the piss and say he's not a proper farmer
