For 3 days now not one of the buggers has given birth. They just lie there in their pregnant splendour. Not even bothering to get up and eat. I tootle round them on the quad bike every 2 hours. Not a sausage.

Awesome autocorrect there. Blush

Peanutbutterfingers · 20/05/2016 19:19

Well done derxa!

Absolutely fascinating thread, thank you.

derxa · 20/05/2016 19:22

Thank you peanut I did nothing. A neighbour phoned G. She phoned me and DS and I rushed to the road. G and DS caught the lamb in a pincer movement.

Oh your heart must have been in your mouth. They're just like little children, aren't they. You have to have your eyes everywhere.

derxa · 26/05/2016 10:22

Only 15 to go

Come on Mrs sheep! Pop out those babies

derxa · 26/05/2016 11:10

Yes they're popping out. They're have been a few cases of lamb stealing by ewes which I didn't realise was a thing. Their hormones are going into overdrive.

Lamb stealing by ewes Shock!

Goodness me, I hope you managed to work out who belonged to who!

cozietoesie · 26/05/2016 11:15

Any chance of putting some orphaned lambs onto the 'stealers'?

cozietoesie · 26/05/2016 11:16

PS - or lambs where the ewe has too many to cope with.

harshbuttrue1980 · 26/05/2016 11:29

At what age will you send them to the slaughterhouse?? Its really odd when farmers gush on about they animals when we all know they are just commodities to you.

FuckingFattyBitch · 26/05/2016 11:51

This thread is fascinating.

derxa · 26/05/2016 11:58

harshbuttrue I get what you're saying but... Ours are pedigree sheep. The females don't go to the slaughter house. Some tups go for breeding The other males will go to market when they're ready as fat lambs. Other than that we treat them well. Please start another thread about farming ethics because this one isn't about that.

Goodness me, I hope you managed to work out who belonged to who! Yes we spray a little coloured dot on twins and triplets on the same place e.g. front right leg so we know which one belong together.

DD is very happy now. She's eating her dinner next to me and a big grin spread across her face. Now she's telling me all about the baby sheep and how she wants to.cuddle it.

FuckingFattyBitch · 26/05/2016 12:50

And a rainbow. DS1 wants to know have you found the pot of gold? Grin

derxa · 26/05/2016 12:52
