For 3 days now not one of the buggers has given birth. They just lie there in their pregnant splendour. Not even bothering to get up and eat. I tootle round them on the quad bike every 2 hours. Not a sausage.

They're doing very well from the look of them. Do they call to you as to their Mum yet? Smile

minipie · 18/05/2016 14:48

Oh I love lambs! the little electrocuted jumps they do are adorable. Thanks for the photos OP

derxa · 18/05/2016 14:49

Ds looks after them. They're on a lamb feeder now. DS who's a big softy and was feeding by bottle was their mum for a while but G. discourages 'humanising' Grin Although he probably gives them a cuddle on the quiet.

Here for the pictures; not disappointed. So cute!

cozietoesie · 18/05/2016 16:35

Are they his first pet lambs?

A bit of emotional distance might be no bad thing.

ewanthedreamsheep · 18/05/2016 16:41

I've had an induction (and i'm a sheep); it was awful.

SIX weeks overdue one of the horses went. I nearly force fed her curry. It didn't help she kept looking at her belly like "ooh was that a twinge?" And then lying down to sleep. For SIX weeks
And yes, it was a boy Hmm

They do this every year. Until the humans are hallucinating and peering at the CCTV "is that a foal? Nope it's a bucket"
This year I sent a text saying "looks uncomfortable" at 22.55. I blinked once at 23.03 and she had foaled
The one that went SIX weeks (we have to type it in capitals) over looked like a hippo, she couldn't get up and down without needing a run up at it

derxa · 18/05/2016 18:14

Buggers!

When I first read this I thought this was actually a thing, inducing over due sheep at some kind of animal hospital...

Well you're not wrong. You can get the vet to induce labour if the ewe is in distress with Twin Lamb Disease. He/she. would come out to the animal though

Vets will also do Caesarians.

hollin I remember being on foal watch once and went out to the field to check the two mares - not due for a fortnight but that morning one had started to wax up ever so slightly.
So I saw them at 5pm - grazing, happy, relaxed.
Took the dogs out for 15 mins, came back and a foal was trying to get up. I shit you not. I nearly fell down.
