PixieMiss · 13/05/2016 05:28

Asos made reference to it in one of their facebook posts too!

Glastokitty · 13/05/2016 06:03

Just spotted this story on the Western Australian Facebook page!

LastAnni · 13/05/2016 06:05

Me too Glastokitty!
Aside: is The West not the WORST newspaper in the world??? I am almost embarrassed to follow it on Facebook, but it is handy in staying somewhat up to date on WA goings-on while I live overseas.

Pipbin · 13/05/2016 18:49

ITS ON THE NEWS QUIZ on BBC radio 4.

LowDudgeon · 13/05/2016 18:50

You just beat me to it, Pipbin Grin

ChipsandGuac · 13/05/2016 18:58

Its just been shared on my localFB Moms page, of which I've joked about on here before. I live in the States. It's like a giant collision of my internet life Grin

LowDudgeon · 13/05/2016 19:40

DH heard about it on the radio news on his way home earlier in the week & asked if I knew about it?

As if! Grin

I'm surprised the bride hasn't surfaced yet. She could get a few cheques out if it.

It must be torture for her: money or face? Money or face? Money or face?

originalmavis · 13/05/2016 19:54

Can you imagine the realisation that this was you that the whole world was sniggering about? And everyone you know knows that it is you? Oh, the humiliation!

I'm sure I've seen a thread like this before but it didn't go viral.

You think the bride really exists?

Sure. She managed to kill Bill too.

mavis, the thread went viral because:
a) the DM are MN vampires
b) it went very long and funny because of the cancel the cheque thing.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 13/05/2016 19:59

Can anyone link to the Maui thread please?
I'm on phone and can't find it (and need a laugh) Flowers

ChipsandGuac · 13/05/2016 20:02

Didn't the Guardian steal it before the DM?!

Didn't the Guardian steal it before the DM?!

The first mention I saw was of the DM.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 13/05/2016 20:06

Ok cheers Vardy

I assume The Guardian vampirised the DM. Shock Hmm

VortexofDisaster · 13/05/2016 22:58

V funny threads!

Although between reading about this Bridezilla, and then following the links to all four of Tinydancer's Gluezilla threads, and then reading her crazy cousin thread, I've lost several days of my life!! Grin

'Are you on glue?' and 'Did you cancel the cheque?' are my new favourite phrases!!! Star

YouTheCat · 13/05/2016 23:03

Vardy, MN confirmed that the OP of the original thread was a long standing Mumsnetter and had no reason to disbelieve her.

Hope you're not troll hunting. Hmm

Kwirrell · 14/05/2016 07:55

The poshest fame of all. This week there was a reference to it, in a letter to the Times no,less.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 14/05/2016 08:19

I've seen that it made it to a chat show in Adelaide, Australia!

HighDataUsage · 14/05/2016 08:31

I wonder if the bride & groom have had a reality check in self awareness? Gosh I can't imagine how they thought it was acceptable to ask for more money. I'm glad the whole world is talking about them & hope it serves as a warning to other grasping couples.

HibernoCaledonian · 14/05/2016 10:45

HighDataUsage Shouldn't that be a reality cheque?

Wink
Lweji · 14/05/2016 12:08

It even exists.

HAVE YOU CANCELLED THE CHEQUE YET, OP?

This story has made it down under. Driving to work in Perth, Australia yesterday morning and this story was being discussed on talkback radio. They had the details slightly wrong- that GBP100 was for a couple invited to the wedding (not one person) , even at that the general consensus was that it was a decent gift.
