Just askin'

And place marking for updates Grin

This thread can't end there, it's not an episode of Eastenders!

To be fair, it's hardly been front page news, apart from chat shows that need amusing and lighthearted topics.
In most newspapers I've had to search for it.
Everyone will forget in 5 min. Except some overinvested sad people .

I really needed advice about a sensitive situation a while ago, but since it involved other people there was no fucking way I was going to talk about it publically.

Puzzled maybe thought she'd get a couple of dozen replies. This situation is absolutely nuts.

RiverTam · 11/05/2016 21:36

Lweji it was on the front page of the Guardian website, and at one point was their second most popular story (still in their top 10 most popular, along with a comment piece on the subject). Even DH noticed it there, and he never takes a blind bit of notice of this kind of thing.

I think it'll only be a real issue for the b&g if they have managed to piss off someone sufficiently that they go to the papers and name & shame. Which may well be the case!

Bambambini · 11/05/2016 21:39

I imagine the bride and groom are possibly having panic attacks and some sleepless nights. I know i'd find this hugely upsetting. They might be arses but do they really deserve this? They could be totally unaware though - in a way, i hope so.

paxillin · 11/05/2016 21:40

Puzzled was really upset to begin with, too. In the pre-internet age, she would have been upset and maybe talked about a handwritten letter or a phone call to a friend. In case of a phone call the bride would have likely denied all knowledge.

It is a lot harder to act in a really shitty manner now that it is easily spread if the behaviour is terrible enough. One often leaves a trail. That said it is rubbish of the news outlets to pick it up and puzzled has not agreed to this. The bride is still anonymous to all but her friends, who would have heard about it in the olden days, too.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/05/2016 21:56

In view of the speculation about attempts to "out" those involved, can I just mention that I've been receiving far too many interview requests from media, including national names and some I've never even heard of

One and all have been ignored, and will continue to be ignored - if they think I'm going to pose for sadface photos and release names, they've got another think coming. As a very wise MNer who PM'd me suggested: today's newspaper - tomorrow's fish & chip wrapping

And yes, I do know that mentioning a time they were used for that ages me Wink

origamiwarrior · 11/05/2016 22:02

Puzzled are those requests via PM on Mumsnet, or has your identity been discovered and the contact is in real life?

MrsHathaway · 11/05/2016 22:06

Well done Puzzled - dignity! Like all bullies they go away when there's no reaction.

thatorchidmoment · 11/05/2016 22:06

puzzled I salute you! Sorry this has snowballed so ridiculously.

I vote we all crowdfund a superinjunction! That should do the trick.

The approaches have come on PM's routed through this site

With the exception of a few trusted RL friends I've made through MN, as far as I know nobody's aware of my real identity, far less my personal contact details - and hopefully that's the way it will stay

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/05/2016 22:14

You should report them mto MNHQ - as far as I know they are not allowed to do this, and MNHQ could use the ban hammer...

Aworldofmyown · 11/05/2016 22:14

Bloody hell this is a bit bonkers!

It will all be forgotten by Friday puzzled

blindsider · 11/05/2016 22:16

Pip in

As much as I enjoyed the thread and got very involved in the story I fail to seewhy it is getting so much news coverage.*

It is merely a national extrapolation of the feeding frenzy on here...

Ketchuponpizza · 11/05/2016 22:19

Seems like puzzled has her head screwed on.

You deserve a glass of wine tonight! X

PacificDogwod · 11/05/2016 22:19

There was a time one could be a grabby twunt in private.

Yes, I realise saying that dates me terribly too Grin

blindsider · 11/05/2016 22:22

Vardyparty

I don't think it is hilarious at all I think it is a damning indictment of the sense of entitlement that seems prevalent in society today...

And you reap what you sow.

AcrossthePond55 · 11/05/2016 22:23

It's pretty amazing what catches international interest these days, isn't it? But perhaps so many of us are fed up with greed and grabbiness, both in our personal worlds (like the B&G in this saga) and in the world at large (the Madoffs and hedge fund billionaires who made their pile on the backs of others) that we can't help enjoy it when someone, anyone, gets their comeuppance. And perhaps it helps us hold out a little hope that someone, somewhere will think twice before being so greedy.

PacificDogwod · 11/05/2016 22:24

Btw how are people STILL able to post on the first thread?!
Confused

shinynewusername · 11/05/2016 22:45

Hang in there OP - at least it wasn't a penis beaker Smile

lem73 · 11/05/2016 22:49

Wow Op you're much more calm and collected than I would be.

Bailey101 · 11/05/2016 22:50

shinynewusername that made me snigger Grin. At least the op can be pleased that she's famous for someone else's faux pas and not her own.
