OP - I think I'm being stood up

Replies - You are needy and desperate.

OP - My tenants are constantly late with their rent

Replies - It's your fault for renting your place. Expect them to do this, put up and shut up.

OP - I saw a man on the ground being hit by several police officers last night. WWYD?

Replies - But how could you have seen? It was dark. How could you see how many times he was hit? YABU
[answer - because I have eyes]

What a pointless forum this would be if nobody questioned anything Confused

Lweji · 02/05/2016 12:51

I've found it interesting that most times that I have started posting against the grain on a thread, then quite a few people end up joining in and change how the thread goes. I suppose most are just afraid of the initial kickers.

SaidTheActress · 02/05/2016 12:53

YANBU ...OP. I suspect you represent the (largely silent) majority.

So we need to accept everything that is said, not question a thing and make a decision on just what the OP has written. Ok then. I love a challenge.

Lweji · 02/05/2016 12:58

I agree with you Maryz (on this one) and usual.

But I can enjoy the debate fights. Some people don't. Some people also take it too seriously.

Yes it is a bit shocking how if the replies aren't exactly the ones required then some major drips are deployed that completely change the whole question. Grin

Most people don't like confrontation, even on a chat forum. I stuck my head above the parapet today and was reported. I don't like the feeling!
But there is a small number of repeat offenders (being very careful not to name) who delight in pulling apart posts and posters.
I see specific usernames and my heckles rise I know that the post will be unpleasant (and I bet I'm not alone in that).
Fair enough report a suspected troll but leave it at that- don't chip away at someone who could be perfectly legitimate.
There was a poster in the forum I was on previously who was troll-hunted though was legit and was understandably upset. That's not OK, we're grown women!

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2016 13:10

I see specific usernames and i hide the thread because it just isn't worth the bother of posting and getting picked apart. But i also avoid certain people in RL so it's just an extension of that.

SaidTheActress · 02/05/2016 13:12

hackles not heckles!

SaidTheActress · 02/05/2016 13:15

prob a good idea, sparkling- though I'd be a hiding a lot of threads- small minority of posters but large presence in many threads!

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2016 13:15

Did you get deleted Said?

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2016 13:17

I hide loads of threads, since I was told I could hide without even opening them I just go down Active hiding as I go.

SaidTheActress · 02/05/2016 13:18

i did, sparkling- didn't like it- don't think i'm cut out for aibu! god forbid i ever start a thread- i'd be in bits!

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2016 13:19

Ooh you must have been naughty Said. But it looks like that was a TAAT anyway.

SaidTheActress · 02/05/2016 13:31

i do think i broke a rule, but naturally i believe i had the moral high ground!
I didnt know you could hide threads that easily- will try that.
also will probably inhabit "chat" from now on.

WorraLiberty · 02/05/2016 13:33

Some people question absolutely everything and some people question absolutely nothing, before agreeing with an OP.

I find both equally annoying.
