Ken Clarke has said that "David Cameron won't last 30 seconds if the country votes leave".

That will plunge the Tories into civil war in the party. George will probably take over et voila!

George will never win an election. He has all the charisma of a blocked sink.

Frustratingly, I think she's gone.

SpringingIntoAction · 16/04/2016 23:51

I think Corbyn is great, he has morals and principles, and it's about time we had someone in power with empathy and a moral compass that actually works.

Why do you think Corbyn has changed his long held views on the EU and had his previous anti-EU sentiments removed from the internet?

Is his conversion to the pro-EU cause really genuine?

So how come we're only in 2016 AD? Confused

No, it doesn't look like it to me. He's having to represent the party line, but I don't think he's convinced.

I think she was from the future, and just had chance to tell us before she was whisked back. That would explain the discrepancy.

Bugger! I was about to ask her next week's Euromillions winning numbers

Some think that not trusting Cameron is a reason to remain in the EU. But would they trust Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission? Some of the things he has said are:

"When it becomes serious, you have to lie."

"We decide on something, leave it lying around, and wait and see what happens. If no one kicks up a fuss, because most people don't understand what has been decided, we continue step by step until there is no turning back."

"Of course there will be transfers of sovereignty. But would I be intelligent to bring attention to that?"

"I am for secret, dark debates."

(From Meet the Next President of the European Commission)

MadameDePompom · 17/04/2016 00:33

'Some think that not trusting Cameron is a reason to remain in the EU'

Er, what? No one has said they want to remain in the EU because they don't trust Dodgy Dave (!). They've said disliking DC is a ridiculous reason to vote 'Leave'.

Nice attempt at spinning though.

NotnowNigel · 17/04/2016 00:46

I am surprised to see how seriously most people seem to be taking this Referendum - some even attaching significance of biblical proportions Grin

Some interesting quotes there Itenerary I wonder if they are simply rare instances of frankness reflecting what actually goes on in all politics though, rather than just Junckers? Is it just that he's one of the few stating what goes on in all political backrooms?

Madame maybe not on this thread, but time and again I've seen people frame the choice as being between Remain or The Tories. That's definitely not what the referendum is about. Remain is a very long-term decision, whereas the Tories can be voted out in a few years time. We can't vote out the EU, we can only decide to leave on this one date in June.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 17/04/2016 14:03

JC is not a champagne socialist

A socialist yes that is why he should not be leading the Labour Party

If we vote to to leave Boris will become leader of the Tory party George will quickly be pushed aside

I am voting to stay in because I feel it's best for he country it had nothing to do with what party leader I prefer they can be quickly replaced a change in leaving the EU can not

CockacidalManiac · 17/04/2016 14:06

I don't see the inherent problem in a democratic socialist leading the Labour Party. My problem is that he just isn't very good at it, and surrounds himself with numpties like Diane Abbott, Milne and Livingstone.

Boredworkingmum020 · 17/04/2016 14:15

Well Cameron only has a couple of years left at the most. Jezza C will never win an election as he has the politics of an a level sociology student with rather less grasp of economics. So the replacement would either be George who is basically a Tory ed Milliband or Boris who seems to spend most of his days being mayor of the fairy village in ben and holly. So I really wouldn't base your euro vote on the above soap opera

MrsMac2014 · 17/04/2016 14:29

Yeah, but think who his replacement might be.... and then when things need sorted out, DC resigns and swans off with Sam Cam to their luxury hideaway somewhere,
Although if UK votes out we might get another Independence Ref in Scotland. Yeah, let's do that again. ..Mmh
I'm not a Labour voter either, but I like Corbyn.
