To spend £1000

I want a luxury spa and Michelin star restaurant for me and my DP. Live in the Midlands, so open to a lot of areas.

Looked at The Priory in Bath and The Grovesnor in Chester so far. I want utter decadence, but not sure whether these places will offer that. Upto £1000 for two nights.

Am I asking too much for the cost?

OP posts:
CreepingDogFart · 28/03/2016 11:02

I shouldn't think she is coming back.

Queenbean · 28/03/2016 11:20

am loving all of the places being recommened le manior, pennyhill park etc. You would struggle to get a basic room for one night, let alone a weekend and a meal!

PHP is £250-£300 a night! You could easily do a weekend there for £1k

HarrietSchulenberg · 28/03/2016 11:26

The Grosvenor is full of aspirational, grabby WAG types, the "old money" customers have long gone. OP should fit right in there.

littleleftie · 28/03/2016 11:46

Hello Pippa

If you spend all that money on your 30th won't your friends bitch at you about it?

And wouldn't the money be better spent in Maui?

Madbengalmum · 28/03/2016 11:52

Queenbean, having stayed at le manoir and cliveden you would struggle on £1k.

Sorry, mentioned pennyhill by accident!

CakeNinja · 28/03/2016 12:05

Just random weekend dates I've put in at PHP and these are the options for 2 nights, easy to blow thousands.
We've just stayed in a bog standard room, not a suite, was much nicer than the Waldorf rooms!
Service has been lovely when I've been, and really does feel like luxury. Not quite decadence, but luxurious!
Some of these recommendations are really great, I'm going to spend the afternoon hunting for somewhere to take dp for his birthday (spa not important for us, but food definitely is).
Wonder if Op is coming back or instead consoling herself with pasties after the thread backlash?

moly that's hilarious

This thread started off tragic but now I have loads of new places I want to go for food so swings n roundabouts really

sparkling i thought the same. I wouldn't dream of spending 1k on a spa only to use the pool but 'orses for courses.

Oooh that's a good idea Maryz. She could take the place of the jealous friend.

Buzzardbird · 28/03/2016 12:45

The Travelodge in Brierley Hill with as much balti as you can stomach. Now, that is utter decadence.

YABU £1000 on pure tackiness.

Netflixandchill · 28/03/2016 12:46

LOL at Utter decadence 😂😂😂😂

Yes perhaps add a nought onto the end of that figure and stretch to a nice utterly decadent trip to Maui? Just don't take your fiancé as it's clear everyone absolutely loathes him and it's nothing to do with the fact your a bit of a douche

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 12:48

Travelodge Brierley Hill is genius Buzzard theres the ultimate decadence of Westfield Mezza within walking distance....

novemberchild · 28/03/2016 12:53

Nooooo Buzzard. She can't go up to a size 10 with your licentious suggestion of all you can eat balti. And Greggs.

Buzzardbird · 28/03/2016 12:58

Why not? Nice bottle of something blue and fizzy in the room and the Copthorne by night will be tears to your eyes.

Fauchelevent · 28/03/2016 13:01

I thought the Maui thing was in reference to the poster who asked if her friends were being U/didn't like her fiance for not coming all the way to her wedding in maui as they were broke. I thought there was intel to which i was not privy iyswim Easter Wink

Arkhamasylum · 28/03/2016 13:04

I don't think that 'utter decadence' is something you can buy in a hotel. Hmm

mumeeee · 28/03/2016 13:11

I personally wouldn't spend £1000 on a two night stay To me that is real money and is more like a weeks holiday for us.
However it's your money and if you xsn afford it then do it

leopardgecko · 28/03/2016 13:19

OP, perhaps you could tell us your Vision for your short break?

Everyone else, leave the OP alone, don't you know how stressful it is picking the right cushions for your 5 bedroomed house when your DF (whose marriage will probably only last 5 years, but never mind it's all about the Maui) also wants an opinion.

Hope you find somewhere suitable - if not you've always got your cruise and lonely wedding to look forward to!

Conflictedkate · 28/03/2016 13:42

Not sure what you mean by utter decadence but hambleton hall in Rutland is very nice.

scarednoob · 28/03/2016 13:52

There's plenty of nice bridges you can stay under for that!

SleepyBoBo · 28/03/2016 13:58

I know a barn you can sleep in for free OP, that's where bullshit usually belongs anyway. Lucky you, 'glamping' and rustic shit is the perfect holiday for those with more money than sense. Forget a spa day, make your own mud-packs, it will be just 'super'. Otherwise save your money for something really good - for some reason Maui comes to mind, think someone mentioned it briefly recently....

CreepingDogFart · 28/03/2016 15:05

If a barn is good enough for Jesus then it's good enough for OP!

Topseyt · 28/03/2016 16:15

Love this thread.

Planet Jaimx86 must be a very, well, decadent sort of place?? I am trying to imagine it right now.

I doubt if this thread can be for real. Is anyone really that much of a twonk.

mouldycheesefan · 28/03/2016 16:54

Bath priory is lovely in a traditional chintz style, nice gardens and good food. The pool is small and outdoors. It's not so much a spa hotel though it has small facilities but well placed for sightseeing in bath. I like it there but there are better places for spa seekers.

catgirl1976 · 28/03/2016 17:26

Jesus

I was coming on to tell you that the Grovesnor in Chester is very average, but then I saw your 'Super poor' comment

I know some amazing Spa Hotels where you'd actually get your the sort of experience you are looking for, but I'm not going to to tell you because you sound like a total bitch.
