To spend £1000

I want a luxury spa and Michelin star restaurant for me and my DP. Live in the Midlands, so open to a lot of areas.

Looked at The Priory in Bath and The Grovesnor in Chester so far. I want utter decadence, but not sure whether these places will offer that. Upto £1000 for two nights.

Am I asking too much for the cost?

OP posts:

I have only done a few spa days and am always bored out of my mind by them.
1k for 2 nights won't get you much either as these places have a lot of ads on's....go for a city break instead?

Stratter5 · 28/03/2016 09:38

I live in the Midlands. There's a hairdresser at my local hair salon called Jaim. She'd be 30ish. Wonder if that's who OP is.

Stratter5 · 28/03/2016 09:38
  • There's an hairdresser
CreepingDogFart · 28/03/2016 09:43

No the OP is a high-flying, high-earning Senior Manager in a school don't you know.

Not quite head over to the Higher Education forum:

I worked 32 hours a week during my degree and gained a 1st. I was extremely busy and didn't have time to socialise with anyone that I met there... But I managed to leave without debt. One job had fixed hours, and I was lucky enough to have a second job with flexible hours that I could change around as my uni timetable changed.

notonyurjellybellynelly · 28/03/2016 09:47

Im still finding it hard to take in that she thinks she'll get utter decadence for 1000 pounds.

RedToothBrush · 28/03/2016 09:48

For a £1000 I wouldn't even be looking at the UK tbh...
(5 stars Copenhagen for a weekend is doable).

I also think that thinking Michelin Starred restaurants only are the best restaurants in the world is blinkered.

There are plenty of hidden gems that don't apply for the status and you can keep your arms and legs.

Its all about the status symbol and showing off.

I don't have a lot of time for it.

Silverfoxofwarwick1953 · 28/03/2016 09:49

Fawsley Hall, Northamptonshire.
Has everything you want OP, and Midlands too. Doesn't need to advertise and many people have never heard of it. Not that I would describe it as decadent, but you come back with no change. If you go in May the bluebells are stunning.
Personal recommendation.

I just have an image of a Michael Winner type, jowells wobbling, thumping their fist on a desk whilst decalaring I want utter decadence

CreepingDogFart · 28/03/2016 10:07

Followed this thread last night as it headed south. Not going to say what I was thinking, but would say that I hope the OP / her DP are nursing hangovers this morning, otherwise I will be at a total loss to understand her stance last night.

Jessesbitch · 28/03/2016 10:20

Calcot manor, glos
Menzies stratford

LOLz.

This thread

I'm normally the first to get irate over in S&B when someone wants to spend £££ on a handbag and gets sneery responses from posters who think you should carry all your worldly goods in a hessian tote, but this thread is just grim.

I could have helped you, but the sneering at 'poor' people and the unnecessary stealth boast about your dress size were in such poor taste, I won't bother.

I hope you're just a GF, because the alternative is that you're just a knob.

queenoftheuniverse · 28/03/2016 10:28

Bet op is the type to "check in " on Facebook so everyone can see where she is when she has her "decadent" little spa breaks.

Someone did this on my Facebook this morning at a travel lodge in Bradford....I personally wouldn't want to advertise that Grin

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 28/03/2016 10:32

Surely she/he is a goady fucker?

No sane or real person would ask such a question and be a nasty rude bitch as well.

I can't stop chortling at this thread. Is it a Classics contender yet?

The OP said she couldn't afford a proper holiday, then she called everyone poor?

Am I missing something?

NeedACleverNN · 28/03/2016 10:42

See I would suggest buying your own private island in the Caribbean somewhere but you've only got £1000. So so poor.....

Madbengalmum · 28/03/2016 10:42

OP does seem out of order, but i am loving all of the places being recommened le manior, pennyhill park etc. You would struggle to get a basic room for one night, let alone a weekend and a meal!

Namechangingchameleon · 28/03/2016 10:51

Menzies Stratford is lush and cost nowhere near £500 a night when we went for Valentines 3 years ago.

CreepingDogFart · 28/03/2016 10:52

Maui is nice at this time of year.

A few of us suggested this but she doesn't wanna know Easter Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 10:55

It's quite an odd question to ask of MN because Spa Breaks are usually deemed really naff and awful and loads hate them with a passion.
