Aibu to think there's always one?

Constructive criticism, great, advice, brilliant, strong opinions, also great for getting a new perspective on situations.... But, goady fuckers, a different kettle of fish entirely, example...

Op - DD's rabbit died last week, she's very sad.

I'm not sure whether to get another rabbit when she's ready or perhaps a Guinea pig instead?

Goader - It sounds to me like you're not particularly good at looking after animals. In fact I'd say you probably shouldn't be allowed to have pets. I feel sorry for your DD.

Kate I wasn't thinking that. But from the scant details the OP provided you might assume she is hiding something serious and is about to dripfeed.

Chippednailvarnish · 21/03/2016 23:24

Well if the guinea pig starts to fuck you off, you could barbeque it Peruvian style.

ClopySow · 21/03/2016 23:25

I dunno, i think it's all in the delivery. I've agreed in principle with people who were just being arseholes. And i've furiously disagreed with people being quite nice.

thecatfromjapan · 21/03/2016 23:25

I have bad cold and the EI thread is actually beyond my reading skills. I'll have to take your word for it.

Hope no-one's being horrid to bibs because I am v fond of her. Smile

I sometimes worry that my ds trolls this board. He's bored and internetty. I did ask him, once, and he looked horrified. I think he thought mumsnet was too uncool to troll, or be a GF in.

Well, I laughed and spotted instantly that you were joking Chippednailvarnish.I have to go to bed. But this is a cracker of a mumsnet night tonight.

Chippednailvarnish · 21/03/2016 23:27

Ahh Kate you clearly share my sophisticated appreciation of modern culture Wink

katemiddletonsothermum · 21/03/2016 23:29

Wink Night all!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 21/03/2016 23:30

My rabbit just wouldn't die because I have brought him up not to.

If you are the kind of person who canmot even train your rabbit not to die tyen you probably shouldn't even have kids let alone pets.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 21/03/2016 23:34

It's an official rule that there is always at least one person being a cunt.

This is purely so you know you are on Mumsnet. The logo, URL etc are not enough. It's only when a cunt rocks up to be cuntish that you can be sure you're not on some sad inadequate's replica site set up to harvest your data.

Rabbits should run free.

I think there are some posters who have 'specialties'. So, for example, if someone posts "what should I give my DC for dinner tonight?" or "oh, made a crap lunch" it attracts all those who only eat a single organic lentil once a fortnight and think you'll get cancer if you ever look at a sugar bowl. Or references to tampons attracts the mooncupper brigade or God..

Chippednailvarnish · 21/03/2016 23:40

Ahh, the mooncup brigade. I read mooncup and I think preppers.

No idea why.

PiperChapstick · 21/03/2016 23:42

Fatmomma the 'I made a crap lunch' ones piss me off as I expect to see something like deep friend mars bars on the menu. But it's always someone fishing who's said "I made WHITE bread not brown for the kale and cucumber sandwiches, and only put 4 fruits not 5 in the fruit salad for dessert. I'm the shittest mum in the world aren't I?"

I always want to comment "Yes. Yes you are"

SilverBirchWithout · 21/03/2016 23:49

Loved the reaction to your comment on the EI thread chipped

Fatmomma99 · 21/03/2016 23:51

Agree Piper. I'm the mum who occasionally forgets to feed my DD, so I know what they'd make of me!!!! (on the plus side, no food = no bad food, so it's kind of a win-win!)

Couldn't resist a post on EI. Bless him!

Lambrini · 21/03/2016 23:54

The EI thread is too much for this time on a Monday night, can't cope!

I'm not being goady about Eddie Izzard. That is genuinely how I feel. I accept it if no one feels the same (although I have noticed a couple of posters do get my gist) but what makes you think otherwise? I've been on Mumsnet for 10 years this year and I do not get my jollies from posting fake ops.

thecatfromjapan · 22/03/2016 00:03

I know, bibbity. And I know you like to discuss things.

Saw you on the meet-up thread and it almost made me want to go.Smile Am not in happiest state at the moment, though, so probably won't.

Oh god! The thread where the OP's poor DH had been threatened by her abusive father and a bunch of posters turned up to tell her to LTB. It was surreal.

thecatfromjapan · 22/03/2016 00:06

Yes. I think the ability to discuss things seems to have left the mn building - on some threads at least. Goodness knows why.

And you are risking your life if you try irony, wry humour, or literary effects such as comic hyperbole.

It's scarily literal at times.

thecatfromjapan · 22/03/2016 00:07

I love that rabbit.

I have rabbits in RL. They are great for stroking.

Fauchelevent · 22/03/2016 00:10

Has OP even been back yet? OP? No response? Where is OP? It's been 10 minutes hmmmmmmmmm Hmm

oh you have

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 22/03/2016 00:14

thecat I never stroke my rabbit.
If you stroke your rabbit all the time how do you expect them to learn to stroke themselves?

My immortal rabbit strokes himself all the time (except on Tuesday's when he has his oboe lesson).

People like you shouldn't even be allowed a hat let alone a rabbit.
