AIBU - pants at night

So reading the bedding thread there seems to be the suggestion that some people don't wear pants at night. Shock This is seriously a pearl clutching moment for me.

So AIBU to ask - doesn't everybody wear pants at night, whether or not they sleep otherwise naked or wear PJ's? And wouldn't your sheets or PJ's need more frequent washing if you don't wear pants at night?

So how do you cope with all those naked hands and noses that have touched everything, then, Grapejuice? Just think of that chambermaid with poo encrusted fingernails making your bed and sneezing all over it... And there you are, worrying about other people having wiped their naked bottoms on a cushion. Grin

Twinklestar2 · 11/03/2016 08:52

Funny thread! Had me chuckling on my morning commute Grin

I wear PJs - either tight shorts and vest or full on long sleeves and long bottoms. Used to sleep naked but don't like it now!

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat · 11/03/2016 08:54

What about sitting on the edge of your bed pantless people?

Oh come on now! What are you suggesting here? That our foofs are so bung full of gunge, poo crumbs and unexpelled rancid air that the act of sitting on the edge of the bed will cause it all to ooze out all over the sheets? Grin

It just gets sillier!

roundaboutthetown · 11/03/2016 08:58

I don't know - if you have lived your life as a 24 hour a day pants wearer, the anaerobic bacteria and unusual fungi you have probably bred down there by now might be quite oozy when you dare to take your pants off! Grin

RhodaBull · 11/03/2016 09:00

These people who sleep naked - how hot are your houses?! Do you keep the heating on at night? That's not very good for environment, health or your pocket.

I would wake up as a solid block of ice if I slept with nothing on. One of life's great pleasures is to get into bed and feel nice and cosy.

roundaboutthetown · 11/03/2016 09:03

I don't find pants add hugely to my sense of being warm... A nightie, yes. Pants, no...

irregularegular · 11/03/2016 09:06

Never wear pants. Find it really uncomfortable. Has to be really really cold before I put PJ bottoms on. I quite often wear a t-shirt if I am I bit chilly.

Never ever pants. Never have done. Only maybe when sharing bed with sister or similar?

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 11/03/2016 09:19

Winter= pants & a pj top (sometimes trousers) Summer= just pants or pants & a light pj/vest top or a nighty. Not sure why but the few times I've slept completely naked I've always had an awful nights sleep. I put clean pants on morning & evening.

Quietlifenotonyournelly · 11/03/2016 09:25

Rhoda we don't have the heating on overnight we just have a 13.5 tog duvet and even then I feel too warm at times.

ridemesideways · 11/03/2016 09:26

On a slightly more serious note, can we acknowledge that some of us gush more than others, please? And that as long as there are no signs of infection this is normal?

I'm not the kind to take such comments to heart really, but there has been a note of astonishment which could make some people feel ashamed of their normal bodily functions.

Someone on Big Brother had the whole house laughing at her because her dirty pants were found with discharge in them, cue remarks such as "Eww!" "Puke" "Chicken shit!"

Since late puberty I've always had to wear pants to bed, trust me. No - I don't get thrush. No - I do not breathe through my vagina, but pants are not shrink-wrap either. No - I don't change the bedding after sex, but have a quick wipe and clean pants on. Nothing on the sheets.

badfurday · 11/03/2016 09:37

No "pant" wearer here, Like to be free at night and just sleep in a T-shirt.
I'd quite happily not wear knickers during the day tbh. What do they actually do? They dont support anything like a bra, dont keep you warm.

Quietlifenotonyournelly · 11/03/2016 09:54

I don't watch Big Brother but those comments are mean and uncalled for in that situation.
I'll acknowledge what you said ride Smile

roundaboutthetown · 11/03/2016 09:58

ridemesideways - it's still your choice to wear pants to bed. If you dribbled copiously in your sleep, would your solution be to cover your mouth up overnight?

Quietlifenotonyournelly · 11/03/2016 09:59

Were mean* (as in them not you)

Heyheyheygoodbye · 11/03/2016 09:59

Rhoda I can't beat a warm house at night. I like a freezing cold bedroom but me warm under the duvet in cosy pyjamas. I wake up with a headache in the middle of the night if it's warm.

TheFairyCaravan · 11/03/2016 10:10

No pants here. Clean pyjamas every night though.

ridemesideways · 11/03/2016 10:13

Of course it is my choice to wear pants to bed. I do so to catch my normal discharge and, for me, it's more comfortable and preferable than the alternatives.

If I dribbled copiously in my sleep I would have a waterproof barrier over my pillow and change my pillowcase daily, as a mouth cover wouldn't be comfortable to me.

whois · 11/03/2016 10:19

Nope. Thick duvet in winter. And a sheet only in the summer!

whois · 11/03/2016 10:21

You naked haters better not come round to my flat. DP and I have sex on the sofa sometimes...

RufusTheReindeer · 11/03/2016 10:26

Naked to bed in my own house, dont tend to sit down pantless, deffo not on the cover !!

Wear pants in hotels or other peoples houses (they invite me obs, i dont just rock up) no idea why Hmm

Dont have the heat on overnight, mid tog duvet but i get very warm

Ds1 just has a flat sheet, even in the dead of winter, ds2 has a duvet cover. No duvet in it

LoveBoursin · 11/03/2016 11:13

whois sex... on the sofa !?!
How dare you? I thought it was quite a normal thing to do Grin

QuinionsRainbow · 11/03/2016 11:17

CH and water-heating off at bedtime, back on about 6.30 for the morning. Bedroom window always open at least a crack, often wider if the wind gets up in the night! We've got through the recent winter with just a 4.5 tog duvet, and will probably be down to a lightweight cellular blanket + flat sheet, or even just the sheet, for much of the summer.

LBOCS2 · 11/03/2016 11:25

Nope. Heating and HW goes off at about 8.30pm, comes on again at 6.30am. Only the heating often doesn't come on, just the hot water, as we keep the thermostat very low - and the TRV in our bedroom is only set at 1. I get very warm.

MewlingQuim · 11/03/2016 11:26

Jim jams on here. Pants too if due/started my period learned that the hard way

I would happily sleep naked and tried to for years but I always wake up freezing cold, even in summer Sad

SpidersFromMars · 11/03/2016 11:54

Unpredictable heavy period. Therefore definitely pants.
OH is usually boxer free under his PJ's though.
