AIBU - pants at night

So reading the bedding thread there seems to be the suggestion that some people don't wear pants at night. Shock This is seriously a pearl clutching moment for me.

So AIBU to ask - doesn't everybody wear pants at night, whether or not they sleep otherwise naked or wear PJ's? And wouldn't your sheets or PJ's need more frequent washing if you don't wear pants at night?

Ok I'm crying with laughter. Shag towel is up there with penis beaker. I've never knowingly oozed over the bedsheets in all my years (unless you count post shag goo) but I'm more gobsmacked at those who keep the heating on when they go to bed. Perhaps it's my Scottish blood but window has to be open even if it's minus 10 outside, no heating and piles of duvets to snuggle under (mainly naked, with no pants unless it's minus 20)

ridemesideways · 11/03/2016 17:10

does no one else have a shag towel?

No - condoms. Was horrified when a guy I was seeing whipped it off and just threw it under his bed after. Eek.

Do any of the pants wearers also have dogs and cats? because I'm wondering how you are coping with dogs and cats and all their bodily fluids, paws which have been in strange places, been licked, farting etc...

I have a cat. The cat does not create a sticky / trickling mess around my vagina, which is the main reason I wear pants in bed Grin

does no one else have a shag towel?

Shock It's the penis beaker all over again!!!

Although I have to confess the towel sounds like a good idea (unlike penis beaker). I have had the horror of realising next day the sofa had "evidence".

I could only aspire to the lofty heights of the penis beaker! Grin

Hey each to their own. I prefer not to sleep in a wet patch but no slurs on anyone who doesn't mind it!

bettyberry · 11/03/2016 17:43

Shag towel...? So you are so disgusted you have to wipe away evidence? Condoms or not I've never had one!

Even went at it on the kitchen table once and forgot to wipe it down before guests arrived. Can't be doing with a shag towel.

CalicoBlue · 11/03/2016 18:32

Naked sleeper here, only wear pants when I am cross with DH. I do not even own pj's or a nightie.

Shag towel only on the bottom sheet when we dtd when I have my period.

Wash sheets weekly.

MalbecAndLindt · 11/03/2016 18:48

Cotton PJs unless its that delightful TOM then I tend to wear knickers as an extra layer.

In the buff during warmer months though!

kissmybumandsaychumchum · 11/03/2016 18:58

Had a similar convo years ago on another forum, I was gobsmacked then that so many people use condoms, not as a contraceptive but to minimise "mess". Not saying the condom users here are necessarily the same but there was a sizeable group of people in that thread that did this.
Personally I found it weird and a bit sad, One of the nicest things about being in a LTR is not giving a shit about each others bodily fluids and being spontaneous. Maybe I'm just a mucky old mare but I'd rather cuddle up and sleep afterwards!

regarding the "airing" of vaginas - do you "airers" lay there with no covers and legs spread?

Yes, like a starfish m'dear Grin

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 11/03/2016 19:23

No pants. I get horrific thrush regardless of what the pants are made of. They're damned uncomfortable too. Laundry done regularly. No judgement for people who do things differently.

Wombatinabathhat · 11/03/2016 19:24

PMSL @Pants are not airtight. Unless they are made of Tupperware or something. Grin

'shag towel' Shock

5minutestobed · 11/03/2016 19:36

I don't really see the need for a shag towel? Just go to the bathroom afterwards? Or do people just go to sleep in the wet patch normally?

Wearing pants to bed has nothing to do with germs or bodily fluids I just find it more comfortable. Same goes for wearing pjs!

Pebbles16 · 11/03/2016 21:23

Finallyfree I am glad you at least said you wear clean pants at night. Was feeling rather grossed out by those who effectively wore the same pants for 23.5 hours ( and yet were still insinuating us knicker free folk as being grubsome). That said. Really. Poo crumbs? Gushing? I'm glad I am either a) not that grubby or b) not that crazy!

ridemesideways · 11/03/2016 21:39

FFS. Some of us are wetter than others.
The amount of ignorance and body shaming here about the varying different normal levels of discharge is astonishing. It doesn't make us dirty, disgusting, gross, grubby or crazy. Get over it.

murmuration · 11/03/2016 21:58

Could someone of the no-pants plus PJ's variety answer about whether the PJ trousers, um, ride up uncomfortably?

I've been stuck in nighties while I've got these UTI's, and I just assumed some loose cloth between my legs would be uncomfortable as I spin about at night. But maybe I'm wrong? I could become a convert to no-pants all the time...

janethegirl2 · 11/03/2016 22:00

I can't sleep in a nightie, I get tangled in it and throw it off in my sleep.....even in a maternity unit Blush

Wombatinabathhat · 11/03/2016 22:36

rideme I accept that some people are wetter than others but does it really impact on your bedsheets? I'm not body shaming.
I wear pj's with no pants. Depending on the pj's, they don't all ride up or make me uncomfortable.

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 11/03/2016 22:43

Reminds me of the thread where a posters dp used the curtains to wipe himself on post sex!

ridemesideways · 11/03/2016 22:59

does it really impact on your bedsheets?

Aye - I'd have it everywhere. Duvet and sheet. Little trickles down my... anyway. Sorry tmi.

For me, would rather wear pants for my own comfort, and change those rather than have to wear new PJs daily or wash bedding more often than once per week.

Each to their own. It doesn't affect the health of my vag. Been wearing pants in bed for nearly 20 years. Only ever had thrush briefly when breastfeeding.

ridemesideways · 11/03/2016 23:00

Either that or stick my Mooncup in every night... Now there's an idea...

ridemesideways · 11/03/2016 23:01

a posters dp used the curtains to wipe himself on post sex!

Niiiiice!

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 11/03/2016 23:07

Oh the heady days of sleeping naked - before we had the liability of small children getting into bed with us during the night.

Now, after sex we put Pj's on Hmm

Pants or no pants - sometimes pants, usually none. Surely it's fine either way - whatever you're comfortable sleeping in? < a bit baffled >

m0therofdragons · 11/03/2016 23:20

Dh is liking the shag towel idea as it would be a key indicator for him. This thread is brilliant.

marmiteloversunite · 11/03/2016 23:21

Airing your bits with a hairdryer?
Do I need to use a diffuser to keep my pubes curly? Hmm

bananafish81 · 11/03/2016 23:28

Dares not pose the question of 'shag towel' vs 'cum waddle' (urban dictionary can explain if your imagination can't fill in the gaps)...
