Thank you.

We're lucky enough that a few months out wouldn't be a big issue (OH used to be a contractor so we're in the habit of assuming we could be on one wage at any point. )

And I'm pretty sure that best friend would employ me so all in all I can't whinge.

I'm just so disappointed in them.

MrsHathaway · 21/02/2016 14:42

Oh BigJock - best of luck. Cool and calm and keep your ears open for direct or indirect sex discrimination.

OhShutUpThomas · 21/02/2016 14:54

What makes you think you've done anything sack-worthy big?

MrsHathaway · 21/02/2016 14:57

Contractors who complain, or about whom clients complain, are at risk. Only in an environment of wankers, obviously, but still.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 21/02/2016 15:06

Utter wankers bigjock! Shock

You do not go down without a fight! Ask them if sexism is supposed to go unchallenged.

getyourselfchecked · 21/02/2016 15:12

Maybe I am being sexist....but I have only ever had this blokes of a certain age (race irrelevant). Especially now I am obviously pregnant. Drives me fucking nuts.
Some also struggle being treated by a female health care professional and feel the need to belittle me to deflect from their own embarrassment/shortcomings.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 21/02/2016 15:32

You're not being sexist, they are.

StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2016 16:07

Big jock so do you think it might relate to that meeting?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2016 16:08

Get your post deleted!! Or the thread if it helps

OP posts:
limitedperiodonly · 21/02/2016 16:25

That would probably be a good idea. I'd rather the posts went than the thread. Have reported mine in case.

BigJockButMoreWeeThanBigBigJoc · 21/02/2016 17:00

Nahhhh fuck em

(Summons army of kittens and demands cake and booze, any booze)

I can see/recall any thing I've done but let's be honest we all know that if a company wants to get rid they'll find a way.

tiredvommachine · 21/02/2016 17:49

jock
That's shit Sad

StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2016 18:08

What time do you ususly start

OP posts:
kickassangel · 22/02/2016 01:19

BigJock - do you think it's because the clients may have complained. So your company will say that they can't keep you on with those clients due to the tensions yadayada, but the 'tensions' are all caused by their sexism.

That one's really hard to argue, isn't it? Because your company are just making the same decision that they would for any client. If the meeting didn't go well, they'll blame the nearest scapegoat just to keep the business. They won't even say why the client complained, just that the relationship didn't work out and you need to go.

What would they do if the clients had been noticeably racist? Would they stand up to them, or just get rid of the bump in the road in the same way?

Really hope it isn't what you think, but obviously you know your workplace best.

take this with you

save this for later

kickassangel · 22/02/2016 01:22

Oh, no, sorry, I should be explaining to you what the laws are about unfair dismissal etc. and what you could do/say in the meeting. Only I'm not wearing a penis and I forgot to tell you how it is.

MrsHathaway · 22/02/2016 07:24

Thinking of you this morning, Jock. Brew

StealthPolarBear · 22/02/2016 07:25

Thanks for your support guys!

Thing is they are good guys Grin!!!!!

Apparently they received several complaints about how I was treated in the meeting. The reason for the early meeting was that it was the only space free in my calendar for the next three days. They didn't want to leave it in case I thought they weren't taking it seriously. They knew that I was around because I had a meeting from 7 till 8am.

So without breaking confidence it will be followed up, I can add to the complaints but they will be taking it forward even if I don't.

Being cynical I think it was so blatant and public they have to be seen to take action.

We'll see how it goes. But at least they're trying to do something.

goodnightdarthvader1 · 22/02/2016 09:38

That's excellent news - was thinking of you this morning.

Lweji · 22/02/2016 09:40

Excellent. :)

limitedperiodonly · 22/02/2016 09:46

Good

LumpySpacedPrincess · 22/02/2016 09:50

Hurrah!!!!! And Huzzah!!!!!

BigJockButMoreWeeThanBigBigJoc · 22/02/2016 09:56

Shittttttttttt

It seems as though this is the main subject of conversation in the local office today.

Oh well, if they're talking about me, they're leaving someone else alone.

One big thing in my favour is that I am permanent staff, 2 of them are not. Not fair I know, OH is a contractor and I am very aware of how precarious that can be, but then on the other hand you treat people like shit, there will (hopefully) be consequences.

And with my normal cynicism kicking back in, (the army of kittens threw me for a while. . . )I would not be easy to replace, not being big headed here, we as a team having been trying to fill a gap for 3 months with no end in sight.
