slug · 17/02/2016 16:49

How about this one? Great for explaining objectivation.

Oh, how sweet, we got one! Grin

Just in case anyone didn't know what mansplaining is then just read the thread. Smile

I love how Our Shining Lord dismisses real, lived experience of women, cos, just cos really.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 17/02/2016 16:53

I tried clicking on that second one but a manly voice told me that there is no link because there is no objectification, then it re-directed me to a video of kittens with some soothing music but my lady-brain couldn't cope with all the technomolology so I cried flower petals because I'm soft and dainty.

goodnightdarthvader1 · 17/02/2016 16:53

slug That's great too.

I know Lumpy, and it's better than bird-watching because we don't even need to build a hide. You just mention something women experience at the hands of (some) men, and hey presto:

LordBrightside · 17/02/2016 17:32

Some of you get very hostile and aggressive when you encounter a view you don't agree with. And very personal too.

Strange behaviour for adults but hey ho.

goodnightdarthvader1 · 17/02/2016 17:39

brightside, it's not views we disagree with. It's misogynist views that have no connection to or bearing on women's realities. We know more about this than you do so you should sit down, shut up, and listen - not tell us that we're imagining it.

You mostly only post on threads about misogyny, usually to spout ill-informed crap, then wonder why women get pissed off with you. Strange behaviour for a supposedly intelligent adult, but hey ho.

Some of you get very hostile and aggressive when you encounter a view you don't agree with.

Can I take a wild guess and suggest that you are the 'head of your house' and not used to women disagreeing with you?

No one here's been abusive. You've denied the reality that most of us as women face - 'objectivity doesn't exist' and other such gems, and we have disagreed with your (incorrect) views.

That's not hostile or aggressive.
But it IS women refusing to believe what you tell them, or to agree with you to keep you quiet. And it's THIS you seem to have a problem with.

PandoesnotwearRaphaclothes · 17/02/2016 17:46

YesPan was being sarcastic Stealth above re it doesn't happen.

OhShutUpThomas · 17/02/2016 17:47

You're wrong there again Your Lordship.

Women can be misogynists too, it's not gender specific.

PandoesnotwearRaphaclothes · 17/02/2016 17:47

and neither does he wear Rapha clothes....hth Grin

NatashaBolkonskaya · 17/02/2016 17:47

Ach, dammit, didn't paste. Blush Feminine incompetence, obvs.

I meant to refer to: Some of you get very hostile and aggressive when you encounter a view you don't agree with. And very personal too.

Strange behaviour for adults but hey ho.

LordBrightside · 17/02/2016 17:48

"suggest that you are the 'head of your house' and not used to women disagreeing with you"

My super smart doctor wife who earns double what I earn would take issue with you there. We are very much a partnership. If anything, she's the boss!

limitedperiodonly · 17/02/2016 17:48

My husband would be very disapproving if he knew I imagined the shape of genitals other than his own. So I don't let him know where my mind wanders while buying root vegetables. It's what we women call our air of mystery.

LordBrightside · 17/02/2016 17:50

"No one here's been abusive."

Accusing me of being a misogynist and having a "hatred" of women is certainly abusive. And people have been very personal.

I don't really mind, but that's not the point.

LordBrightside · 17/02/2016 17:52

"But it IS women refusing to believe what you tell them, or to agree with you to keep you quiet. "

I don't really care whether people "believe what I tell them" or agree with me when I express an opinion. It just doesn't matter. Why did you think otherwise?

LordBrightside · 17/02/2016 17:54

This is all very tribal, which is a shame. Women and men are actually part of the same tribe, the tribe called People. I expressed that I respect all people equally regardless of gender and get a flaming for it?

Very strange.
