To be a bit baffled by the trend for eyebrows that announce their presence 3minutes before the rest of the face?

I had assumed this eyebrow trend was reserved for sellers of strangely overpriced pyramid scheme products (e.g. Forever Living, Youuuunique and our mumsnet favourite Timeless Vie )

But I was at a soft play today and half the women there had eyebrows so fierce they had a life of their own. And I keep seeing posts on our local selling pages of women asking for recommendations where to go to get their eyebrows done like that.

Just baffled by it, but then maybe they are equally baffled by my vaguely-plucked-around-the-edges eyebrows

Are the tattoos permanent?

Nothing new in having strong brows, beautiful

Behooven, they're semi-permanent - they'll fade out over time.

Behooven · 08/02/2016 19:49

Thanks bunny I really like the look of the natural shaped ones and the eye liner

FlatOnTheHill · 08/02/2016 19:51

Agree they look ridiculous and frightening.

dreich · 08/02/2016 19:58

I grab mine from here in the morning, so quick. Top ones for a #bossbabe day and bottom ones for when I"m with my huns.

Grin dreich

Ooh look - it comes with a moustache just like mine

BunnyTyler · 08/02/2016 20:02

There are plenty of people who do them Behooven, each has their own style.
I was personally recommended someone, and was able to see lots of pictures of her actual work on 'normal' people (fat, thin, old, young, fair, dark etc) rather than stock pictures of models.

I am really pleased with mine, I don't need to get them tinted anymore and I don't look like I am eyebrowless when I am not wearing make up (I had eyebrows, just very light and sparse).
The liner is a very thin line, just enough to frame my upper eye - I still wear eye liner but don't need it day to day.

It hurt like hell getting it done, but thoroughly worth it imo.

I reckon it was this guy who started it all.

(Nice one Ming) Wink

I am weeping with laughter at Timeless Vie, oh thank you Mumsnet

Yseulte · 08/02/2016 20:20

I've never seen a woman with them who didn't look dreadful. I don't understand what it is that these women are seeing that they think drawn on brows look nice?

MamaLazarou · 08/02/2016 20:34

Because we don't have natural brow definition and prefer them to be as dark as our head hair? Some of you are being very judgmental. Because I do my brows I need to 'get a life'? I'm sure you are all images of perfection Hmm

Yseulte · 08/02/2016 20:38

For natural brow definition a pencil is fine. I've never seen a tattoo that wasn't too dark or looked anywhere near natural.

MamaLazarou · 08/02/2016 21:02

There are several examples posted upthread, Yseulte.

RufusTheReindeer · 08/02/2016 21:07

red

I am sure those women are saying

"That Rufus...she is a shifty one, never looks me in the eye"

Yseulte · 08/02/2016 21:10

I've seen them, Mama I was including them in my comment.

If the women are happy with them that's fine, I just don't like them.

BunnyTyler · 08/02/2016 21:34

Yseulte - I'm quite happy with mine, and don't believe that I look 'dreadful', but thanks awfully for including me in your comment!

Yseulte · 08/02/2016 21:38

Cool.

ClarenceTheLion · 08/02/2016 22:00

I like this trend. Not that I do anything to mine, but I haven't plucked them in a year! And apparently they look 'goals' Grin

Now I just need one of the K sisters to bring back the 70s bush, and I'll be a major trendleader...

ClarenceTheLion · 08/02/2016 22:03

Amanda Palmer draws in her eyebrows and I like them, but it's very her. She didn't just start when everyone else did.

Run247 · 08/02/2016 22:16

Hey at least this one doesn't need to use an eyebrow pencil, ever! Frightening though

This has been bothering me for a long while now. Massive shiny slugs they look like .... It's totally mental

MrsGToYou · 08/02/2016 22:21

I LOVE MrsGloss&TheGoss on FB and often recommend it here. Really supportive , thousands of members and no eyebrow bitching at all : )

ICanSeeForMiles · 08/02/2016 22:34

I really fancied getting hair stroke brows tattooed.. but I'm very blonde and worry what the 'fade out' colour would be. And then I would be stuck getting them re done every year or two for ever Hmm

OhForFrigSake · 08/02/2016 22:41

I am a semi permanent makeup artist and spend allllll day every day tattooing brows on ladies (and men). I see lots of different people from 19 year olds to 70 year olds. Women who want bold 'power brows' to those who have had chemotherapy or alopecia and just want 'some brows.' It's a fascinating and rewarding job - I have on occasion refused to tattoo women who had wanted something not in keeping with their face - or well beyond their natural hair growth pattern. The goal is to create brows that work on Sunday morning as well as on Saturday night!
