To be a bit baffled by the trend for eyebrows that announce their presence 3minutes before the rest of the face?

I had assumed this eyebrow trend was reserved for sellers of strangely overpriced pyramid scheme products (e.g. Forever Living, Youuuunique and our mumsnet favourite Timeless Vie )

But I was at a soft play today and half the women there had eyebrows so fierce they had a life of their own. And I keep seeing posts on our local selling pages of women asking for recommendations where to go to get their eyebrows done like that.

Just baffled by it, but then maybe they are equally baffled by my vaguely-plucked-around-the-edges eyebrows

I don't pluck them or anything, that is just how they grow. You can't see it but right at the front there is one bright white bastarding one. I think i will pluck that one out but was thinking of maybe dyeing them if i get more as i am so naturally dark they will really show. My mum is almost white blonde and has invisible eyebrows that are sort of short and thick and grow long, wiry and curly. Mine have always just grown straight and fine.

I did make the mistake of letting a French beautician 'tidy them up' when i had a facial on holiday once Shock They were about 1 hair thick and a centimetre shorter at both ends (they already grow pretty far apart and high - my nickname at school was penfold because of them). I cried and then i realised all the french women i saw had exactly the same shape. It took about 2 years for them to come back properly.

But some of the photos are of gang members in the US, equally the male members will have a eyebrow fashion and have identifying scars and tattoos.

The opening statements of 'HD/tattoo'd brows are shit, was very childish.

Some brows don't look good, some women look shit in skinny jeans etc.

I don't like the expensive shapeless sacks always linked on S&B, or the advice to wear monochrome, but each to their own.

SansaClegane · 08/02/2016 10:28

Just came to say hollinhurst you have the most beautiful eyes!

I haven't really noticed the eyebrow thing (yet??) but will have to keep an eye out for them!
I've had rather the opposite problem in that my eyebrows have a naturally steep arch to them and are quite high above my eyes, so I sort of have that effect without trying Shock I used to try to counteract it by plucking heavily, but you can't really change the shape of your eyebrows like that can you? so at some point I just gave up!
I remember once being told (at secondary school) I had "witch's eyebrows" that "make me look evil" ConfusedBlushSad

MrsKoala · 08/02/2016 10:33

i was also called 'The Joker' a lot too.

Sansa, when i was at school i tried plucking them down from the top to make them look lower, but it ruined the natural shape and looked worse really. So i also just stopped fussing with them about 10 years ago.

SirChenjin · 08/02/2016 10:35

And some aren't gang members - some are just really shit tattooed on eyebrows.

SansaClegane · 08/02/2016 10:35

Glad I'm not the only one, Koala!
I've accepted now that this is the way I look, and I don't find it so bad anymore. But I think it's quite tough growing up when you want to blend in it was bad enough to be ginger.

vix the eyebrow in the first picture looks so much better than in the "after" one. Why mess with it?!

RoboticSealpup, it was all drawn on first - we spent a long time getting the shape and thickness to what I wanted and was happy with.

Vixx, I prefer the 2nd photo too - the first on is just overgrown & scruffy imo.

Clearly people have different opinions on things and Birds I agree with everything you've said Grin

Mrskoala.
They are very nice. Good density, shape and colour, and neat.
That is unusual. Most people's are either thin, Sparse and patchy or thick, wild and unruly.
They aren't HD like as the HD shape is more angular especially at the arch and yours are very rounded. They are lovely though.

itsbetterthanabox · 08/02/2016 11:40

Hair stroke semi permanent eyebrows are the most natural looking.

SirChenjin · 08/02/2016 12:19

I agree. Out of all of the ones on here the tattoos that look like little hairs intermingled with real ones are the most natural looking.

MrsKoala · 08/02/2016 13:08

Itsbetter, that pic is a bit more round than usual because i think i involuntarily raised my eyebrow a bit (i do move them both independently and they have an expressive life of their own - especially if i'm concentrating!).

This is the other eye in it's 'resting' state. It is slightly more angular than the right eye anyway. (family trait from my dad's side that we all share and so do my dc)

A lot of the photos you are putting up look totally fine!

It is these kind of styles that I can't understand!!

And no this photo isn't of a gang member, it's a Forever Living Bot , but these type of eyebrows were all over the place at the soft play we went to the other day!

I'd have a serious uni brow if I didn't pluck my brows but other than that I keep them in their natural shape, when someone is looking at your face do you really only want them to remember you by your eyebrows is what I think.

A few years ago when I was in college (adult learner), they had a hair and beauty department, and it was just as this eyebrow trend was taking off, and I'd walk past them in the corridor and find myself trying to match their constant surprised look. One of my college mates caught me in the act, and I didn't even realise I was doing it!

RedOnHerHedd · 08/02/2016 17:56

You know when someone's got that really massive zit on the end of their nose, and you're talking to them face to face, and inside you're chanting to yourself "don't look at the nose, don't look at the nose"? Well I do that with eyebrows. "Don't look at the eyebrows, don't look at the eyebrows, don't look at the... Aww fuck I looked!"

Rufus
It really distracts me from the conversation, I find myself forgetting what I'm saying, mid-sentence because I'm concentrating so hard on not looking at their eyebrows. There must be some sort of medical name for that?? Or maybe they're hiding some sort of mind altering device beneath them, and that's what's making me forget what I'm saying. I think I've uncovered a conspiracy here.
