To be a bit baffled by the trend for eyebrows that announce their presence 3minutes before the rest of the face?

I had assumed this eyebrow trend was reserved for sellers of strangely overpriced pyramid scheme products (e.g. Forever Living, Youuuunique and our mumsnet favourite Timeless Vie )

But I was at a soft play today and half the women there had eyebrows so fierce they had a life of their own. And I keep seeing posts on our local selling pages of women asking for recommendations where to go to get their eyebrows done like that.

Just baffled by it, but then maybe they are equally baffled by my vaguely-plucked-around-the-edges eyebrows

Another fan here! I have brushstroke eyebrows so look natural on my sparse brows, I still have to tint and wax them tho!

itsbetterthanabox · 07/02/2016 21:20

A thread/wax and tint done properly by a good beauty therapist looks good.
Some beauty therapists aren't so good but mostly it's people doing theirs at home badly and then adding shit loads of dark brow pencil. A powder run through can fill any gaps and slightly darken and will look natural. Anastasia dip brow overuse has a lot to answer for too!
HD brows is a brand but and advanced brow treatment done well should look good and suit the persons face shape and colouring. It's when people then go home and whack pencil on!
This is a nice simple tint and wax that still look natural.

I've given up with my eyebrows. I keep noticing how 'done' a lot of my friends brows are

Mine are just horrible, too thick and wiry I don't know what to do with them. I wake up most days looking like something between an angry old owl/extra from Star Trek

ChickadeeChick · 07/02/2016 21:23

My eyebrows are overplucked arches and I fill them in with a brow pencil when I can be arsed am going out. I am pretty sure it looks fairly natural and no square edges. I would love them tattooed but I'm building up the courage. They are semi permanent tattoos not permanent so won't be there when I'm 80. I think if you find the right person they look nice.

itsbetterthanabox · 07/02/2016 21:24

The majority of people do their own very badly. Uneven and hook shaped.

ChickadeeChick · 07/02/2016 21:25

Oh also DDs nursery key worker has shaved hers off and drawn them on in a thin line with a sharpie pencil. It looks really odd and when I pick her I find myself mesmerised with them Blush

thelifeofamber · 07/02/2016 21:28

They're called HD brows and they're awful.

I get mine threaded in Superdrug when I get the chance.

You do know that HD brows are just threading and waxing with tint?

It would achieve the same look you get with threading just slightly darker.

throwingpebbles · 07/02/2016 21:30

Superdrug do threading??? For real? Is it only in certain stores? I never get round to going any more didn't realise I might be able to nip across the road from work to get them done!

Sounds like it might be the tint that can make the eyebrows look weird then amber ?
I know lots of people that thread /wax and their eyebrows look perfectly normal just nicely defined

These are mine about 5 days after HD tint. They fade quite a bit more, sometimes I have them threaded or I do it myself
Excuse towel on head!

I think very strongly drawn dark eyebrows would look OK if you also had black hair, strong features and good makeup, but often they stand out in marked contrast to the rest of the face, hence the freaky clown look.

BiscuitMillionaire · 07/02/2016 21:36

My comment was not about you hollinhurst!

anyone who does anything with their eyebrows seriously needs to get a life

hollinhurst84 · 07/02/2016 21:45

Mine are quite sparse and v v fair but the tint grabs all the teeny hairs so it thickens them, then I have them threaded and trimmed
I do fill them in as I can't always afford the salon so learnt to thread them myself too!

itsbetterthanabox · 07/02/2016 22:01

Tint is best for those with pale, light brows or who have lighter areas/grey areas.
I have mine tinted because they are light brown and almost invisible. The tint is a medium brown and looks completely natural.
Tattooed eyebrows are only semi permanent. They last about 18 months. Again you want someone good. If you have them done well they look very nice.

My friends & I were having a discussion pretty similar to the OP & being as mature as I am I had a go at some "bold" broos!
Quite liked my snails !

Germgirl · 07/02/2016 22:04

Why southeast? I don't like the 'sharpie' look but i fill in and define my sparse pale brows because I feel it makes my face look nicer when I do.
I don't think that makes me sad or that I need to get a life.
