To be a bit baffled by the trend for eyebrows that announce their presence 3minutes before the rest of the face?

I had assumed this eyebrow trend was reserved for sellers of strangely overpriced pyramid scheme products (e.g. Forever Living, Youuuunique and our mumsnet favourite Timeless Vie )

But I was at a soft play today and half the women there had eyebrows so fierce they had a life of their own. And I keep seeing posts on our local selling pages of women asking for recommendations where to go to get their eyebrows done like that.

Just baffled by it, but then maybe they are equally baffled by my vaguely-plucked-around-the-edges eyebrows

Grin MrsLHP I'll be using that one.

bertsdinner · 07/02/2016 19:10

My friend at work plucks her eyebrows off and then draws on a thin line with eyebrow pencil. She's done it ever since I've known her, 8 years.
It looks a bit 70s to me.

The only cholla I know is Jewish bread. Grin

I have had to hide Mrs Glass & The Goss from FB because of all the loony eyebrows on it - the thick black tattooed ones with square ends and the ones that are drawn on half way up someone's forehead. Someone comes on and says "Um, is that your usual brow line, because they look a bit high to me" and WW3 kicks off.

Labrador - but it's perfectly possible to have natural looking brows tattooed on, isn't it? They don't have to be all blocky and square.

What goes around comes around with fashion. Look at the 1030s brow.

labrador presumably done well they can look fairly natural though?? No issue with that, I am talking about the clear trend for people to have insanely prominent and rather aggressively shaped eyebrows ...

People draw them on their babies too.

My dh always points girls with these eyebrows out they horrifying him, he thinks he's being subtle but it's a bit like when my five year old ds saw a car transporter.

TheOddity · 07/02/2016 20:21

Crying laughing lighten

user7755 · 07/02/2016 20:29

Can anyone post some pics of nice looking eyebrow tattoos? I have never (knowingly) seen any that don't look awful.

user7755 · 07/02/2016 20:31

Lightening - my son is like that when he sees a man with a ponytail. Literally gasps with hand over mouth and points with the other hand, then starts jumping up and down, giggling and shouting 'Mum! Mum! MUM! Look at that man!!!!'

Mortified!

Birdsgottafly · 07/02/2016 20:37

"awful" is subjective, though.

I like mine, they are mainly filled in and given extra shape. I know lots of women who have that and I think that they look, better than sparser brows.

I'm 47. I like and wear makeup and use false tan occasionally.

I personally couldn't be with an Adult, who thinks it's acceptable to point and comment/laugh at anyone's appearance.

If you said that he was doing it to any other group of women, you'd be flamed.

gunting · 07/02/2016 20:41

User there's someone local to me who does eyebrow tattooing and I think they look very good really.

user7755 · 07/02/2016 20:46

Birdsgotta - The shape of yours is nice, did you get them done because you don't have real eye brows? Sorry, dim question - I'm very, very naive with things like this.

What I'm not keen on is the fact that they don't look real (but then I guess they wouldn't really would they?), so I assume people have them because they don't have any - but then I see young women having it done and just don't get it.

SirChenjin · 07/02/2016 20:47

gunting - how does that work then? They just look like normal (probably tinted) eyebrows.

user7755 · 07/02/2016 20:47

gunting - is that a tattoo? That looks really natural - I stand corrected!

user7755 · 07/02/2016 20:48

I presume it's a very talented artist and a very fine needle

SirChenjin · 07/02/2016 20:50

Unless the wearer has no eyebrows at all what happens when they start growing it? Do they just shave them off? And what happens with the daily regrowth? Confused

gunting · 07/02/2016 20:50

I think she tattoos individual hairs just to fill in the natural eyebrows. I've been tempted to get some I think they look lovely.

SirChenjin · 07/02/2016 20:52

Oh right...so a mix of natural hair and tattoos to fill in the gaps? That would make more sense - gives it the look and feel of hair rather than the flat 'drawn on' look

Birdsgottafly · 07/02/2016 21:03

User, mine were very sparse. I'd been on Steriods and lost body hair, one was a bit wonky, it made a big difference to my face, having them evened out.

To me, the one grunting posted, is too thin.

I think it depends on your overall look.

A lot of the piss taking ones posted, are gang members.

It looks to me that KM has just had hers done and they need to lighten.

Birdsgottafly · 07/02/2016 21:05

""Unless the wearer has no eyebrows at all what happens when they start growing it? ""

You can trim, or pluck/thread them.

My 18 year old DD has hers filled in and still gets waxed.

She's got hyper mobility so got her eyebrows and eyeliner done.

hollyisalovelyname · 07/02/2016 21:13

That HD stuff looks daft on a lot of girls.
Just because it's fashionable doesn't mean it suits you. Smile

WonderousStories · 07/02/2016 21:14

I do like all the flbots eyebrows - they seem to have a standard. The higher up the pyramid the more they stand out and the more pronounced the cheeks....
