to seriously dislike Victoria Beckham?

I've been thinking about it lately and don't know why. I don't think its jealousy. maybe its because she is getting away with it, and has had unbelievable luck in life with the "singing" and "designing" She is probably nice enough in RL but her pouting and posing just grate.

YABU to start a thread about your personal dislike of someone you've never met, as are the other posters who have made it personal. I'm no particular fan and I don't choose to buy anything made or represented by her, but I think it's really horrible just to start a thread saying "I don't like so and so". How childish! She is still a person, however famous.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/11/2015 13:51

Baffled by the comments about pimping out the children. They don't seem to be thrust into the spotlight at all, though they are going to be public figures whether they like it or not. Hmm

Not thrust into the spotlight? Do you live under a rock?

squoosh · 01/11/2015 13:51

'They don't seem to be thrust into the spotlight at all, though they are going to be public figures whether they like it or not.'

I'm sorry star but that's nonsense. Lots of A Listers shield their children completely from the paparazzi. The press are legally prevented from printing photos of them.

Seems a sensible way to go. Better to let the child choose fame than to have it forced on them. There's no reason that a celebrity's child should automatically become a public figure.

ForalltheSaints · 01/11/2015 13:52

I don't seriously dislike her. I just find it sad that so many people bought the bad karaoke that the Spice Girls produced. I prefer real music.

I tell you what I find 100 x more irritating than Victoria Beckham, and that is posters who fill a thread with links as if we are all going to slavishly go off and read them all! Summarise what is in the link, or at least roughly what the link is about ffs.

emotionsecho · 01/11/2015 14:00

OP still hasn't answered my question as to what exactly it is that VB, in her opinion is getting away with?

howtorebuild · 01/11/2015 14:02

Sometimes you can't articulate when your instincts are telling you something wrong.

Those interested will click links and form their own opinion.

If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all
It's about time women stopped giving other women a hard time
Save your hatred for women like Myra bloody hindley or rose west. Women who have actually done something awful to other human beings, not someone innocuous like Victoria Beckham. I'm not surprised she doesn't smile. She gets so much criticism

Maybe, you know, she interacts with them when you don't see hersmile in the paper

Of course...and I do know that.

My point is that with other celebs they still get papped in the park with the kids, or coming out of a shop or a café. Or sometimes just in their local city, with one or more of their dc, going around in flip flops and jeans with a takeaway coffee. Normal, everyday stuff.

With VB the paps seem to get her going from house to car, from car to airport, from airport to event. She's done up to the nines, skyscraper heels and full face of slap, her kids are all immaculately turned out and parading along beside her surrounded by a constant entourage of assistants and bodyguards.

It all seems so fake, so contrived and so put on for show.

I don't buy that her constant entourage are because of how famous they are. There are plenty of A List Hollywood celebs who you see going about their business without 5 bodyguards, the nanny, the driver and so on.

Take away the money and it seems like a pretty miserable existence to me tbh.

squoosh · 01/11/2015 14:17

I don't buy tabloids and I don't buy Hello or Ok or any sleb magazines at all.

And neither do I and yet I still know that their children are being groomed for celebdom. One of the children has a modelling contract with Burberry and the oldest one was the subject of a creepy 'yay he's nearly legal' article in Tatler this week.

howtorebuild · 01/11/2015 14:20

Groomed, yes, parents and children.

NationMcKinley · 01/11/2015 14:21

I cannot understand the obsession with "celebrity culture" however my brother is in the television industry and has worked with the Beckhams on numerous occasions. He says that VB is absolutely lovely: polite, funny and very kind. She has a brilliant reputation amongst TV crews.

Unless you know her why the hell would you dislike her so much?
Its fucking weird.
If she was constantly mouthing off, was hideously right wing or did something horrible you could dislike her for that.

Or even worse, hideously left wing.

I don't dislike VB but do understand having an irrational dislike of someone you've never met. In my case it's Fiona Bruce and Lorraine Kelly - I can't stand the sight nor sound of either of them and it's totally illogical. I do know it's definitely not jealousy but have no explanation.

squoosh · 01/11/2015 14:25

Gregg Wallace makes me want to chew my own eyeballs. But I suspect that's an entirely rational reaction.

Cocolepew · 01/11/2015 14:26

Kanye West is another gruumpy bloke.

TheHiphopopotamus · 01/11/2015 14:26

I don't like her. I don't like David Beckham either.

Everyone who has met her in real life go on about her 'wicked sense of humour' which I've yet to see any evidence of. I'm not jealous of her either. In fact, I wouldn't exchange any amount of money for a husband who can't seem to keep it in his pants.

None of this impacts how I live, however. I see their faces in the paper and I turn the page.

howtorebuild · 01/11/2015 14:29

It may impact your life when their plan of getting into the house of lords, happens.

howtorebuild · 01/11/2015 14:30

Working tax credits anyone?

onelittleclara · 01/11/2015 14:33

I think people are very selective in what they see. Everyone is arguing that you never see pics of her doing things with her kids and yet I've seen loads of press regarding trips to Disney, kids football
games etc. I think that what the Beckhams do is keep all the real, important family stuff away from the judgmental eyes of the media audience just like people like Gywneth Paltrow. I don't get disliking what you don't know. Its puerile. I find it interesting that those who have real life experience of VB generally have very positive things to say about her, but those people who base their judgment on what they are allowed to see by media have a negative impression. Its like not liking ice cream because someone else told you it is horrible.

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/11/2015 14:33

Oh I like her - but there is a lot of hatred towards her. When David had his alleged affair - so much of the commentary was that Victoria deserved it as she clearly wasn't being a good enough wife to him.

And all a listers have millions of nannies/staff - it is just some make them pretty much hide to create the hands on impression - yes Angelina and Brad I do mean you.
