to seriously dislike Victoria Beckham?

I've been thinking about it lately and don't know why. I don't think its jealousy. maybe its because she is getting away with it, and has had unbelievable luck in life with the "singing" and "designing" She is probably nice enough in RL but her pouting and posing just grate.

I don't see how playing football is so much more worthy than singing in a band or designing clothes.

This is spot on. Anti-VB feeling seems to me to be often fueled by casual sexism.

I do have issues with some aspects of the Beckham 'brand' – the Tatler piece mentioned above being one of them, plus the feeling that for a family who are often to be heard complaining about press intrusion, they don't seem camera-shy when it suits them – but all I've read and heard about her particularly seems to be pretty positive: that she works hard, is good to her staff, funny, friendly etc.

Wadingthroughsoup · 01/11/2015 14:41

Something often said by people who have met VB is that she has an excellent sense of humour and is very funny. I must admit it surprised me a bit to hear that because she seems quite serious, but it makes me warm to her. Other than that I don't have an opinion on her or her work.

howtorebuild · 01/11/2015 14:42

I doubt she wrote any article.

My gripe is they use the children and don't respect t the children's right to a private family life. They are goodwill ambassadors for children's rights and appear hypocrites to me, by what looks like abusing their own children's rights.

Yes, they have no private family life, as their parents use them, it's abuse of article 8 of the human rights act already linked.

LaurieMarlow · 01/11/2015 14:46

Really doubt she wrote the article. Why would she, she's not a journalist.

I like her. She's hard working, committed to her husband and family. She's clearly passionate about her fashion line and it's won over a lot of admirers.

So she got a lucky break way back when. Fair play, she made the most of it.

emotionsecho · 01/11/2015 14:47

The article in the Tatler was written by Annabel Rivkin and it would seem without any input or knowledge of the Beckhams, it was about him but did not include him iyswim.

I think a lot of bloggers/vloggers exploit their children way more. The Beckham children are very privileged and seem very loved.

Rumour is they're moving down to the south west - they'll be hobknobbing with Charles and Camilla at Highgrove before long.

LaurieMarlow · 01/11/2015 14:50

Howto, what utter drivel. Abused? Give me a break.

While she doesn't shield the kids completely from the cameras, the public doesn't see them often - the occasional ball game / fashion show is all I can remember. I couldn't pick those kids out of a line up.

The article wouldn't have been written in the first place if the Beckhams (yes both of them!) had ensured their children were given fame free childhoods.

That's my only gripe with them as a couple. Fame isn't for everyone, how do they know if all their children will react well to being in the spotlight.

ShebaShimmyShake · 01/11/2015 14:52

She's actually known for having quite a wicked and droll sense of humour. I saw an interview with her once when magazine readers had submitted questions for her and she was irritated that nobody was asking about her music. An aide said, "Well, they haven't heard your new album yet so they can't ask about it." She replied, "Well they haven't seen me having sex either but they're all asking about that!"

howtorebuild · 01/11/2015 14:53

Yes I am sure you do find dyslexia very funny.

MistressMerryWeather · 01/11/2015 14:53

Did someone really just mention human rights?

Bahahahaha.

You have to admire the woman's ability to wind people up in such a way.

In her position I would find it very amusing.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/11/2015 14:54

I don't buy tabloids and I don't buy Hello or Ok or any sleb magazines at all.

I don't either but I still see plenty of the Beckham kids.

howtorebuild · 01/11/2015 14:54

Why are human rights funny?

GruntledOne · 01/11/2015 14:54

Owllady, surely by your comments on Rose West and Myra Hindley you've disobeyed your own injunction to say nothing unless you can say something nice?

They're not.

Bringing them up in this context is hilarious.

howtorebuild · 01/11/2015 14:57

Why is it is amusing you that, I am bring up rights to children's privacy?

SummerNights1986 · 01/11/2015 14:58

Comments along the lines of (paraphrasing) 'The kids seem very loved' 'She's committed to her family' and 'The Beckhams dote on their kids'...basically any comments around what wonderful parents they are.

How could you know? I mean, seriously...what is there in any photos of them that says 'close family'?

I mean, they may well be - but I've never seen anything to suggest it. It always baffles me how people can assume this sort of shit tbh. An expensive pair of trainers and being dragged back and forth to LA every week do not automatically make a happy and loved child.

GruntledOne · 01/11/2015 14:59

Howto, what has dyslexia got to do with anything?

I suspect that what people find amusing is the concept that there is any breach of anyone's human rights in this case. I really think you need to do some more research on the topic.

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 01/11/2015 14:59

VB is totally unlikeable who uses her mother as a shield to keep " normies"away from her.

VB's unsmiling persona is how she actually is in real life. She has absolutely no class and if it wasn't for Roland Mouret and Mr Fuller she wouldn't even have a career in fashion.
