to seriously dislike Victoria Beckham?

I've been thinking about it lately and don't know why. I don't think its jealousy. maybe its because she is getting away with it, and has had unbelievable luck in life with the "singing" and "designing" She is probably nice enough in RL but her pouting and posing just grate.

I don't mind her, but i am not fond of her husband.

Doublebubblebubble · 01/11/2015 20:10

I've met her irl 5 times. (once when I was 8 and she was a spice girl - literally the greatest moment of my life up until that point at least) the other times I've met her were as part of my various jobs (in the industry) through the years. She is lovely. She is quite guarded at first (who can blame her) and she has quite a dry, dark wit (which is all good). I dont think she really pimps the children in the same way as the orange one does though.

CPtart · 01/11/2015 20:29

She shouldn't "have" to speak up regarding whether they had help to have a daughter because it has naff all to do with anyone else.
Just said I'd love her to do so. And I bet they did.

Icedcrunch · 01/11/2015 20:32

Yes, she had a good start in life but she also works hard.
I suppose that depends on how we define work.
She certainly seems to live a busy life, as in flying backwards and forwards to America, and seems to get very involved in her business which can run very well with or without her. She gets involved in her business but I wouldn't call it work as such, she pays people to do that. She also has all the joys of 4 children but without the normal work load of looking after them.
Money gives you the freedom to do whatever you want without the worry of it all going wrong.
Apart from all that, as good fortune goes she seems to have it in abundance, and good luck to her.....nobody expects her to go round smiling all the time but it would be nice if she could at least look reasonably contented and not take life so serious.

LaurieMarlow · 01/11/2015 20:40

and seems to get very involved in her business which can run very well with or without her. She gets involved in her business but I wouldn't call it work as such, she pays people to do that

This is complete speculation on your part. You have no idea how much 'work' she puts in, you don't get to define what 'work' is and you haven't a clue whether her business could run without her.

Unless you are her PA or something, you can't possibly know any of this so why spoof shite on the internet?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 01/11/2015 20:45

They may or may not have sought gender selection dr's to have their dd.

Why should they have to speak up because you'd 'love it' Confused If she did such a thing she's get dogs abuse for even saying it out loud, she can't win.

Icedcrunch · 01/11/2015 20:47

Why on earth would you need to be their PA to know what the Beckhams get up to? They make it their business to keep us all informed with their much publicised lives. Are you seriously saying the business that she runs couldn't run without her? Confused

LaurieMarlow · 01/11/2015 21:00

You'd need infinitely more information than you have to know how any business is run. Can't believe I'm having to explain this to you tbh.

Her role will encompass both leadership and creative elements. There are huge variations across different business around how hands on these individuals will be, how many hours they put in, how down with the detail they are, how much of an interest they take in the design/finance/marketing/supply functions of the business.

You haven't a clue what she does or doesn't do - how could you?

Icedcrunch · 01/11/2015 21:00

All this argey bargy about people we don't even know, who'd have thought it wink
I find that comment rather strange. No of course we don't know these people, but isn't that the very nature of celebrity culture. We don't know them personally but we get to know all about their lives, their spouses, their children.....we all know loads about them, that's how they get their money. Because of our interest in them. They want us to know all about them.
So of course we are going to have an opinion on them and pass comments. The day that stops is the day they lose their relevance stardom. Or are we all to love all things celebrity. Of course we can pass comments on them without knowing them.

Icedcrunch · 01/11/2015 21:06

Her role will encompass both leadership and creative elements.
How do you know what her role is. Rather arrogant to presume you know what VBs role is. But whatever it is I'm sure there will be a perfectly fine system in place to ensure it works fine when she's not there.

LaurieMarlow · 01/11/2015 21:12

Oh please - in that of course she has a leadership role within her own business and she takes an active part in the design side - which we know because she's spoken about it at length. That's the type of speculation it's safe enough to make.

What that actually encompasses, day to day, what she's actually doing at 4pm on a Monday none of us know. But I haven't pretended to.

Excitedtoday · 01/11/2015 21:14

Haven't read the whole thread but I completely fucking love VB and DB.

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 01/11/2015 21:22

YABVU OP, not to mention a bit weird.

Here have a Biscuit

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 01/11/2015 21:25

VB annoys people with the sulkiness and smugness.

You mean she annoys you?

I have also seen plenty of interviews where she has seemed very cheerful and has been smiley throughout.

She has said before that she doesn't like her smile so that's why you won't catch her smiling in photos.

Icedcrunch · 01/11/2015 21:32

Yes of course she's spoke about her active part in her design role. I'm also not naive enough to be taken in by this. Her active role is something that people who have spent years at college studying art and design would struggle to understand. I'm also not naive enough to not know that she has highly experienced designers who will do the work but let Victoria take the credit for.
Of course she'll have a leadershop role, I haven't denied that. I've said that the business could carry on just fine without VBs active role.

PollyIndia · 01/11/2015 21:35

A girl I know works for her and actually she does manage everything and leads all the creative direction etc. She works hard - maybe not in a sweatshop for 10 hours a day hard, but she does work. She apparently used to take harper along to meetings (with a nanny at the back of the room) as she didn't want to leave her. And she is (also apparently) smart and funny and very nice. I haven't met her myself so have no opinion but I don't understand the vitriol. I don't like the kardashian celebrity thing but I find it very easy to avoid and I'd never say I dislike them.

PollyIndia · 01/11/2015 21:37

Icedcrunch, that happens all over the fashion industry. I hav a few designer friends who work for big labels and they get no individual credit for their work. That's the job.

Icedcrunch · 01/11/2015 21:40

Does the girl you know that works for her get paid well. I read that all her workers are poorly paid, on nat min wage.

PollyIndia · 01/11/2015 21:42

She definitely gets paid very well!

Icedcrunch · 01/11/2015 21:43

Quite so PollyIndia, that's the nature of the job. That's fine. So we really shouldn't kid ourselves that VB does the designing, as some seem to do.

Icedcrunch · 01/11/2015 21:44

She won't be a machinist then?

DinosaursRoar · 01/11/2015 21:50

Icedcrunch - Not a VB fan as such, but - the fact that the one collection she had that wasn't deemed a success was the one that was designed while she was heavily pregnant/just had DC4 suggests rather that she was very hands on - as if she wasnt, her being absent from the office and 'off her game' due to being heavily pregnant/just given birth shouldn't have had a noticable effect on the quality of what was being produced.

Icedcrunch · 01/11/2015 21:58

I'm really not that bothered. I gave my opinion (which I stand by) and tbh can't be bothered talking about her anymore. She means nothing to me at all. In fact I really don't know why I came on the thread. Probably bored I suppose. Before I go though, I will say that I haven't really seen many of her clothes range, but the ones I have seen have been dire. Grin You literally couldn't pay me to wear them..... But each to their own I suppose.
