to seriously dislike Victoria Beckham?

I've been thinking about it lately and don't know why. I don't think its jealousy. maybe its because she is getting away with it, and has had unbelievable luck in life with the "singing" and "designing" She is probably nice enough in RL but her pouting and posing just grate.

I don't like Myleene , now she gives good reasons to piss people off.

Remember when she made a very public song and dance about some parents and the birthday wish list regarding her dd's class?

OurBlanche · 01/11/2015 17:19

They go a bit beyond being generous to charities. And I have no idea why they engender such nasty personal posts. What is it they have actually done or said that is so reprehensible?

There are many other slebs who do and say ridiculous things, never support a charity and act like muppets.

Chippednailvarnish · 01/11/2015 17:25

I always thought the "Posh" nickname was a huge pisstake, because she was slightly less rough than the rest of the Spice Girls, but certainly not posh!

Supporting a charity by writing a cheque and turning up for publicity events doesn't get my admiration

Well without those people the charities are well and truly fucked. Hmm

TheSpottedZebra · 01/11/2015 17:29

Now Myleeeeeene is another example of someone who called 'the paps' with stories and pics of her family. She pimps her kids out like no one's business.

AskBasil · 01/11/2015 17:47

I don't think the Beckhams are any greedier than William and Kate Windsor or David and Samantha Cameron.

Why is it OK for posh couples to have stacks of money but not vulgar ones like the Beckhams?

"She went to a private school from which her dad picked her up in a Rolls."

LOL. How frightfully vulgar.

You do realise only oiks think that's posh, don't you?

I don't follow celebrities but I do think VB seems nice actually from what I've seen and heard of her. I know more than one person who has met her husband and I'd have no time for him though. Not that that would make any difference to his life in any way, but there you go.

SuperFlyHigh · 01/11/2015 18:02

Still I think Victoria has given the impression of being smug in the past - eg few interviews, few smiles, lots of papped photos where she seems to be just posing coming through an airport arrivals passageway... No one seemed to know much about her character and the typical nosey British public do like to know a lot about our celebs.

She just did used to seem a bit 'up herself', now having seen more of an insight into her character through various recent interviews etc she seems media shy rather than smug and she has let a funny, caring side of her character show through. Not that she should have to do this...

ScornedFuryofHell · 01/11/2015 18:04

Washed You don't need to admire them for writing a cheque, though from what I've seen they do more than just write cheques, but its no reason for anyone to think poorly of them.

I'm sure there's plenty with far more money who donate far less. They're under no obligation to give to or work with charities, they choose to, im sure they realise it's the right thing to do in their position.

Could they do more? Yes, probably.. But thats probably true of most of us. I could give an extra couple of quid on my direct debit each month, I volunteer about one day a month, I could probably do another. But that's not important, what matters is that I am doing something and the same is true for VB.

I agree that pound for pound, a donation probably represents a greater sacrifice from a lower income earner. That said, I very much doubt that you could describe V&D Bs charitable contributions as 'a few thousand'.
The family donated at least 3.5million in 2013 alone.

I love the Beckhams.

But the only thing that has had me slightly Hmm recently is that Harper would've started school in September and it would seem that both David and Victoria have travelled extensively (according to Instagram and the DM anyway!) since then and now. Now it could sell be that Harper is in a school with a nursery/preschool attached so the 'graduation' to reception isn't really that big a deal, and that as she's DC4 they are slightly less pfb at the thought of school than me but it just made wonder.....

ReloKayShon · 01/11/2015 19:16

I mean it made me wonder I'd it wasn't a tiny bit naff that they were here there and everywhere whilst she settles into her first half term of school.

onelittleclara · 01/11/2015 19:19

I think people's reaction to Victoria Beckham says a lot more about them than her.
Btw she went to a bog standard comp. The only fee paying school she attended was part time theatre school just like thousands of kids all over the country.
I'm not a fan in particular, but give them a break. They are no better or worse than anyone else and don't seem to act like they think they are either.

Tram10 · 01/11/2015 19:22

VB comes across as contrived, her posture, her posing, her demeanour, her clothes, her hair, her lips, her boobs, the co-ordinating family outfits, the wedding on thrones, the glowing references about her fantastic husband. , and of course the fibs she has told over the years (didn't have a boob job, didn't have a nanny, perfect marriage, doesn't diet)

Yes, people don't know her personally, but she courts publicity and attention and she puts out a public persona that is pretty unlikeable because it does not come across as even remotely genuine.

southeastdweller · 01/11/2015 19:25

There's some really naive people here. The Beckham's have obviously been very successful in staying on top in terms of their image and keeping the money rolling in for years, despite certain allegations. So it's not beyond the realm of possibility in my view to suggest that allowing 12 year-old Romeo to model for Burberry and 16 year-old Brooklyn to model for Teen Vogue (and be on the cover) is about keeping Brand Beckham current, ongoing and youthful.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/11/2015 19:37

I like her.

Read her autobiography in my early teens when i was being bullied and always felt the odd one out. It was comforting to me then that someone as successful as her had experienced similar, not because I expected to be a millionaire as an adult (although that would be nice!) but because the base message was school isn't everything and life does get better.

Wrt her children being in the limelight, I think the (both) Beckhams have cleverly allowed them to be seen enough that they aren't hounded constantly.

Although it seems the DM has decided the eldest boy is fair game and now post pics of him out with his friends sans parents.

CPtart · 01/11/2015 19:54

I have no real feelings for her either way. But her desperation to cling onto her philandering husband after his dalliances with Rebecca Loos speaks volumes. And I'd love her to answer honestly whether they resorted to gender selection to have a little girl to complete their "perfect" family.
I have far more respect for the thousands of normal working women up and down the country juggling work and motherhood without the army of 24 hour hired help she has.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 01/11/2015 20:02

Why should she speak up regarding whether or not they sought help to have a daughter?.

What on earth is it to do with you or any one else?

Damselindestress · 01/11/2015 20:03

I don't think she's "getting away" with anything. Yes, she had a good start in life but she also works hard. I'm not really a fan but I do admire the way she built up her own business rather than coasting on being a former spice girl and a footballer's wife.
