Netmums VS Mumsnet

Mumsnet seems more controversial in content to me (well the AIBU section anyway). I previously enjoyed Netmums but find now that I hardly ever go on it. I prefer the "lively" sometimes abrasive discussions on Mumsnet.

OP posts:

I got banned for calling someone stupid they were.

The5DayChicken · 10/08/2015 18:52

Is 'twat' a swear word on Netmums Derek?

I think they're both absolutely great for the people that use them.
Some prefer one over the other. some like to flick between both.
I think they meet different needs a lot of the time.

Welcome to MN!

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 10/08/2015 18:54

Well that didn't fucking work!

I read a thread ages ago on here where the NM's joined to post on a thread that had been started. I can't remember what the thread was about but it made pretty grim reading from what I remember.

VagelinaJolie · 10/08/2015 18:55

I thought it was MNHQ announcing the first annual mn v mn football match.
Where is the real Derek and what have you done to her?

fairnotfit · 10/08/2015 18:56

Hey, our site, our rulez well, Justine's site but whatever

Hun

Sparklingbrook · 10/08/2015 18:59

I have been toying with the idea of dipping my toe in the other side recently.

Cheesymonster · 10/08/2015 18:59

Which came first, NM or MN?

GarlicDoughballsInGlitter · 10/08/2015 18:59

I find on mums net people offer actual advice, based on knowledge and experience, rather than hugs and I'll informed advice.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 10/08/2015 19:00

Ok all kidding aside, Derek, I am worried about you! Come back to the dark side mate - we have wine, and crude humour and CAKE!!

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 10/08/2015 19:00

Sparkling! Shock

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 10/08/2015 19:01

No Sparkling! Don't do it!

I had a look at NM once - they were using Comic sans, and seemed to be really proud of it. There is no hope for weirdoes like that.

I got banned for calling a couple of people trolls and saying a poster might not be genuine. There's a better variety of threads on here, not so many pregnancy one's which suits me too.

LazyLohan · 10/08/2015 19:01

Aaaaa. Good old Mumsnet. Full of posters proudly polishing their gleaming lefty credentials. But when they actually come into contact with a real poor, badly educated person they just resort to snobbishness and mockery....

fairnotfit · 10/08/2015 19:02

I went over once to take a look.

Gave me a headache.

Sparklingbrook · 10/08/2015 19:02

I know Annie, but thought I would confess.

hotfuzzra · 10/08/2015 19:02

I find the pedantry, sarcasm, wit and wordplay over here excellent.
In NMland it's all 'frilly' and vacuous . Ifkwim

Babyroobs · 10/08/2015 19:02

I used to go on both until I got banned from Netmums for saying I hoped another poster got banned ( she was being absolutely vile to another poster!).

Sparklingbrook · 10/08/2015 19:03

I like the sound of vacuous, sometimes you need vacuous in your life. So many lectures on here at the moment.

Bunt · 10/08/2015 19:03

I find netmums distracting, all the flashing glittering things. I also find the posts difficult to read, they often make little sense and are full of 'huns' and 'ah bless', plus the threads just witter on and on, completely off topic.
