Netmums VS Mumsnet

Mumsnet seems more controversial in content to me (well the AIBU section anyway). I previously enjoyed Netmums but find now that I hardly ever go on it. I prefer the "lively" sometimes abrasive discussions on Mumsnet.

I got sacked as a parent supported by NM!!
There was a specific (pretty nauseating ) formula we were supposed to use and I just couldn't bring myself to be that twee.

I'm fucking appalled and i'm seriously thinking of taking this further. I don't think it's any coincidence that the less serious threads are jumped on and now there are at least two threads using the most disgusting words to describe black people and not one moderator in sight! This is going to fucking stop because its cyber abuse and obviously it is being ignored as though it were some kind of a joke.

I have just had a look and see what you're talking about, LiverMummy. They're having a problem with one specific troll with at least two heads. On one thread, they're accusing the hairy-handed one of being a MNer Angry, but at least on here a thread called 'I gave birth to a darky' wouldn't still be hanging around from yesterday evening...

Queen I'm fairly new here and I've not seen any sign on here of that kind of talk. I checked out their profiles and they both joined yesterday. Even if they do get banned I just think it's a disgrace how they have been left all that time and I have seen the most ridiculous of threads edited ie. Referring to another thread. So that's serious but a blatantly racist thread, no make that two plus one about killing female babies is just left for all to see. Well I've saved the pages because I cant fathom how that's allowed.

I really want to take this further but I don't know where to go with it. I'm not reporting NM to NM as they are the ones who left it and they'll just be funny with me.

You'd be very unlikely to see it, LiverMummy, because it would be reported by about 45 people in the first 5 minutes and MNHQ would come down on it like a ton of bricks. We have trolls on here too, but most of the ones I've seen are a lot more subtle than that!

Presumably the mods on NM are volunteers, as opposed to MN's professional viper wranglers? It could explain the differences in how these things are handled.

Just had a quick peek at NM and wish I hadn't! I spotted a thread on shaving before birth which contained the immortal line "If they think I'm going in with a hairy foof they have another thing coming, my bubba ain't coming out of a bushy garden."

That may be the most NM thing I've ever read!

The threads will probably have been deleted by now. iirc the mods are not really about over night which is why threads don't get deleted quickly.

It's not on my favourites anymore it must have automatically deleted when the thread was deleted. I should have saved it somewhere else. All gone now but my god that was horrific.
