Netmums VS Mumsnet

Samwelly · 10/08/2015 18:32

Mumsnet seems more controversial in content to me (well the AIBU section anyway). I previously enjoyed Netmums but find now that I hardly ever go on it. I prefer the "lively" sometimes abrasive discussions on Mumsnet.

OP posts:

i got a life time banned from NM. i left it for a long time. then rejoined with different email then i got a ban again about 6 months later for being previose banned member. i wonder if anyone grasses :/

DefinitelyMaybeNo · 11/08/2015 21:21

That graham March - I've met him in RL too and he's actually really nice. Nothing like his NM persona.

MarchLikeAnAnt · 11/08/2015 21:27

Really?! No, I don't believe it. You can't say the things he said and be a nice person.

ChilliAndMint · 11/08/2015 21:36

I'm a convert...all of my posts were deleted on Netmums.

DefinitelyMaybeNo · 11/08/2015 21:37

I only met him for a few hours but yes really - completely different you would not put him and his NM self together. Maybe he just keeps his twatishness hidden well in RL?

WantToGetLost · 11/08/2015 21:45

Net mums layout I find very confusing, they do however have access to CAB workers so you may find more legal help over there.

VulcanWoman · 11/08/2015 21:52

I think Graham is a very bitter and hurt Man.

MarchLikeAnAnt · 11/08/2015 21:53

Maybe he just keeps his twatishness hidden well in RL?

A coward then? Sounds about right.

VulcanWoman · 11/08/2015 21:54

I liked Kirk though, I'm not talking about Captain either.

BeaufortBelle · 11/08/2015 22:03

Oh yes Kirk - Kirk never fails to amaze with his ability to feed a family on less than £25 a week and says he can make economies. His techniques make the Mnet everlasting chicken look positively extravagant. But he's good company. I like him too.

....contemplates having a lurk over there.

Bambambini · 11/08/2015 22:05

Kirk is lovely. Graham doesn't seem to like women much and seems to think the ladies should be grateful that he deigns them with his presence and superior intellect (ok, i've had a fair few words with him).

Bambambini · 11/08/2015 22:07

And he really hates mumsnet. I think he came here and didn't get the reception he thinks he should have.

MarchLikeAnAnt · 11/08/2015 22:08

Yes, kirk was nice..

MistressMerryWeather · 11/08/2015 23:50

Ok bugger it, it's late and I'm nosy.

Why does he hate MN? :o

LiverMummy25 · 12/08/2015 13:00

I find that Graham always has something to say and just pops up with completely irrelevant information. I don't think he likes women much either. Either that or he thinks he's the all seeing oracle.

x2boys · 12/08/2015 13:58

I have to say i have found netmums to be supportive with special needs yes i have seen some disablilist sp? comments but they are usually jumped on fairly quickly like they are on mumsnet ,there was a long thread when katie price said harvey was getting transport to his special school [just as there was on mumsnet ] and yes some people said katie should have to pay for it but so did some people on mumsnet i think people are generally older and probably better educated on mumsnet but horses for courses.

DoubleAgent69 · 12/08/2015 14:27

I've NC but I regularly post on both sites and they are so so different! The mods on NM are like repressed dictators stifled by an overload of glitter, they jump on a post for the slightest thing and constantly remind you to 'be supportive'. In the FAQ's they say that swearing is not permitted because theirs is a site they want to be family friendly and accessible to all ages. Really? Because I wouldn't like little Johnny to come across threads titled: 'Anal sex' and 'Does your OH make noise in bed?'. So the non swear policy is a bit pointless IMO.

Graham seems to have been burned by a woman in the past, his bitterness and cynicism shines through like a beacon of tortured angst amongst the various threads in even the most light hearted topic, such as "Famous people who share your birthday".

Kirk does seem like a nice man :) There was a thread a while back about benefit cuts and he had some insightful ideas and policies but was shouted down by various Daily Fail readers who banged on about tax credit claimants being the 'benefit mob', and how compulsary sterilisation should definitely be brought it..

The discussion mentioned upthread about the husband being angry because his wife didn't want to receive oral sex anymore - I commented on that and got quite a hard time. I was one of the ones sticking up for the OP and challenged the honeyz who thought she should think of her husband first, not herself, she should put up with what he wanted to do, close her eyes and wait for it to be over. If she didn't do this he might get it elsewhere, and then, well she'd only have herself to blame of course!

I'll keep going on both sites as there ARE some very nice people on NM, who care very much if someone is going through a hard time.

Gotta love MN though for making me laugh out loud on the lousiest of days, and for the freedom allowed when posting - plus the people on here are so varied, intelligent and the support is out of this world Grin

MarchLikeAnAnt · 12/08/2015 21:38

Has nobody else wondered if Graham is #dadsec? Grin

imwithspud · 12/08/2015 22:18

The thought did cross my mind. I thought he may have seen this thread and got pissy.

ApocalypseThen · 12/08/2015 22:47

Is Graham the man on the thread about partners in the post natal ward who did this weird and offensive parody of whining post natal women demonstrating that he is actually the very man you don't want there?

DefinitelyMaybeNo · 12/08/2015 22:51

Probably Apocalypse. Sounds like something he would post.

I'm still trying to figure out who everyone's NM name is. I've figured two I think now.

CatIshoo · 12/08/2015 22:56

Have you figured out me? GrinGrin

CatIshoo · 12/08/2015 22:57

Am pretty sure it was Apocalypse,

MarchLikeAnAnt · 12/08/2015 22:58

That does sound like him Apocalypse. Who've you figured out maybeno?

CatIshoo · 12/08/2015 23:01

I have seen some posts where Graham was -surprisingly- sweet.
