Neighbour shoving his garden waste into my garden

Bluebell66 · 14/07/2015 21:48

There is a gap under the fence between me and my neighbour. It's his fence. He keeps pushing garden waste, clippings, clumps of dead grass etc, under the fence into my garden. I have tried blocking up the gap with bricks, and he just pushes them out the way. I can't talk to him as he's an aggressive bully. I know he's doing it on purpose. What can I do about it and AIBU to let it bother me?

shove it back and build a brick wall on your side?

great fun to do btw

Kym134 · 14/07/2015 21:50

YANBU I would keep pushing it back and try and permanently block it.

Fairylea · 14/07/2015 21:51

Could you get some of that easy mix cement from b and q and pour that along the gap?

Could be worse, my next door neighbour chucked all his empty viagra packets over the roof of our shed. ....! We only found them when we had a massive clear out at the end of the garden. I don't think he ever expected us to do it, hasn't looked at us the same way since..GrinBlush

fuckthetaps · 14/07/2015 21:51

Put shit by the gap so he gets it on him, he should hopefully stop if you keep doing it

MythicalKings · 14/07/2015 21:51

Just keep pushing it back.

fuckthetaps · 14/07/2015 21:52

Oh yanbu it would really wind me up too

QuiteLikely5 · 14/07/2015 21:52

You need to permanently block it.

I wouldn't confront if he is as nasty as you say.

EatDessertFirst · 14/07/2015 21:55

Plant something spiky there if you have a flowerbed. Chicken wire may also provide a barrier and is pretty cheap. If possible, I'd chuck the stuff back over the fence rather than shove it back under so it makes a mess he has to clear up.

ADishBestEatenCold · 14/07/2015 21:55

Build a low concrete boundary (using large concrete blocks, with 'foundations set deep below ground level), right up against his fence?

(I assume the cuttings aren't rooted on your side and growing out on his side).

UncertainSmile · 14/07/2015 21:56

Set fire to his house.

TRexingInAsda · 14/07/2015 22:15

I'd just keep pushing it back tbh. Anything permanent and he'll probably be pleased you reacted, and he'll just drop it over the fence anyway. Just shove it back every time. And enjoy it!

TheHappinessTrap · 14/07/2015 22:16

Leave it on his door step?

TheWrathofNaan · 14/07/2015 22:17

I bought lawn edging from pound land and used it successfully for a similar problem.

TheHouseOnBellSt · 14/07/2015 22:19

Oh I like the shit idea! A big turd....get it done!

Rainbunny · 14/07/2015 22:21

Thewrath - you had a similar problem? Good grief, Nothing so crazy as neighbourly relations!

chinam · 14/07/2015 22:23

Uncertain smiles approach may be unconventional but I like it. Alternatively could you build a wall or put your own fence up to block his access?

thetroubleis · 14/07/2015 22:28

Block it up with bricks again, but cement them in- do it late at night so it has time to set. You could make a really nice little planter.

Alternatively, berberis is nice and spiky, or get one of those cat alarms that detects movement so when he shoves his stuff through it goes off. Should be good for a laugh at least once.

My NDN is an aggressive entitled wanker as well- try not to get too worked up over it and see how inventive you can get.

DoesItReallyMatter · 14/07/2015 22:28

What type of fence is it? Can't you just buy gravel boards for the fence.

Are you sure that the rubbish isn't just getting blown under the fence? Has your neighbour got a leaf blower?

thetroubleis · 14/07/2015 22:29

Railway sleepers? Impossible to move.

SweetAndFullOfGrace · 14/07/2015 22:31

Stinging nettles are quite pervasive. As are brambles. If you can keep them trimmed on your side it could stop him?

knackered69 · 14/07/2015 22:33

Uncertain smiles approach could be construed as being a tad unusual - nay dramatic and indeed imprisonable Grin

Marcipex · 14/07/2015 22:35

I have done this by mistake, I was sweeping dead leaves off the patio and also downhill under the fence to next door Blush

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 14/07/2015 22:45

A nice piece of broken glass glued on to the ottom of his fence?

If you know when he is likely to be shoving stuff under, what about pink paint?
Gloss, or something equally hard to get off his hands/clothes?

Bury an air-horn just under the surface...

UncertainSmile · 14/07/2015 22:47

One word: landmine

Mygardenistoobig · 14/07/2015 22:58

You can get those ornaments that wolf whistle when someone is close from B & M.
