I know IABU. This is more a rant.

There's a woman who works upstairs for who some reason eats in our break area. I can't stand the way she eats. She always has finger food like sushi or pizza. She picks a piece up and stares at it before very slowly and deliberately moving it to her mouth, does this weird thing where she moves her lips away from her teeth and slowly tears off a tiny piece with her teeth, stares at the food again, slowly puts it down, then makes A lot of noise chewing (more like smacking her lips and tongue together than actual chewing) until she picks it up again for another bite.

YANBU. Noisy and messy eaters should have to eat alone.

Does she notice you staring at her in disgust while she's eating? I'm surprised she sits there to eat if you're glaring at her the whole time. It does sound rather horrible to have to listen to all the chewing noises but isn't there anywhere else you could go?

I also have misophonia. It is torture I know. I feel such rage it frightens me.

Can you be elsewhere while she eats? Or put headphones in?

Its not just messy/wierd to watch, also noisy! I wouldnt be able to stand it either! So no YWNBU, or maybe move to a diiferent staffroom to eat yourself (less violent option)

A member of my family has anorexia and she takes ages to eat and eats similarly to the way you describe the woman in your OP does but at least she is eating now.

I also have misohonia. It's a proper condition and the feelings of rage can't be controlled. OP can't help it and is NOT nasty!

YABU DH has misophonia but it's his issue I without it can tell that the person he is glaring at isn't a tenth as noisy as it appears to him.

Yanbu, I think eating disorders, Sen aside adults should be able to eat their food in an appropriate way especially around others.

She is only thinking it not doing it! it's not unreasonable to have thoughts!!

I don't sit and glare at her! It's just so noticeable. The sound more than anything.

I'm thinking she has issues with food unfortunaltely, or she maybe did in her past. I feel rather sorry for her, she's obviously not relishing her food

Maybe she is following the Paul McKenna "eat consciously" stuff, it requires chewing food 20 times as well as focusing on every mouthful?
