To get married in jeans?

I'm 42 years old...we're getting married in a hot country (DHs home country) and it won't be a formal affair...it will be in the garden..not during the hottest months but in Spring. I'm too old for floaty hippy style and the affair will be too relaxed for any of the wedding dresses aimed at older brides.

I thought I could wear some really nice jeans and a gorgeous white top...maybe a flower in hair and some fabulous shoes.
..
Essentially the whole day will be a BBQ with friends and family....I will feel daft in a formal dress....I hate those 50s style tea dresses...and don't really want to buy a long or formal frock when I will never wear it again!

I have a good figure and look nice in jeans...I have no desire to be a princess for the day ...I've worked as an actor for years and have had loads of chances to wear big dresses....AIBU though?

not read thread Grin

Op of course get married in what you feel most comfortable in, its great you feel able to do it casually, I would however not go for jeans, the top, shoes etc sound lovely but why jeans? why not simply a nice pair of trousers or better still a long floaty skirt?

anyway have a lovely day, sounds lovely and relazing.

The whole bride and groom t-shirt thing happened quite a long time ago didn't it? I remember seeing it around a few years before I got married so maybe a late nineties/millennium thing?

Roses - had you bothered to read the thread you would've seen that your suggestions were quite rudely shot down in flames by the belligerent OP many times over.

What did they say about us on The Wright Stuff, OpalQuartz?

Were the reports mean or glowing? Grin

They didn't actually talk about what was said on the thread. They just showed the original post by Susie on mumsnet AIBU and used it as a starting point to discuss whether wearing jeans shows a too casual attitude to marriage. They used the example of Britney Spears getting married in jeans and the marriage lasting 55 hours and a man phoned in and said he got married in the 70s in jeans and it lasted 11 months. So it was kind of their own discussion about marrying in jeans rather than discussing what was said in the thread. I don't think anyone made the point in the thread that a marriage would be less likely to last if the bride wore jeans. (Hope not anyway. I didn't read them all.) I looked it up on demand after someone on S&B said it had been featured.
