To hate that Mumsnetters Do This

Everytime someone says something popular opinion on mumsnet disagrees with they are accused of being stupid and uneducated.

You mainly see it on immigration, Europe and political parties.

These people who namecall never actually argue the point but accuse the poster of being uneducated.

Unless mumsnet changes any form of debate on here is going to be boring.

but if people want a place where everyone is all sweetness and lovey dovey, there's another forum they could visit.
they don't have to come here, they are perfectly entitled to, but they don't have to. if people are that bothered by certain comments, rather than start a thread, report the comment and MNHQ can deal with it. that's the whole point of the report button isn't it?

although I do have to say crust I know what you mean about some people staying just within guidelines I have seen that myself.

Is it reasonable to complain about the lack of reasonable debate by starting a debate and then failing to debate though?

The only thing that changes the site really is the behaviour of individual posters.
Periodic threads saying 'I hate old timers/ hate poster digging up the same issues over and over/ had pile in/ hate posters with numbers in their names etc etc are not going to change anything are they?
We can only conduct ourselves to our own standards and if we feel the site is below our minimum standards, put up with it or find a better site.

You forgot 'Stop telling other people what to do'.

Whilst I can see your point pag, I do actually think a beast can run away with itself and this is happening on here, call it life moderation if you like but when you constantly go on somewhere and it becomes some sort of awful place to be then something needs to be done. A person saying they don't like this is perfectly allowed. It hopefully should tell another poster in a self levelling way to be a bit kinder next time.
