To hate that Mumsnetters Do This

Everytime someone says something popular opinion on mumsnet disagrees with they are accused of being stupid and uneducated.

You mainly see it on immigration, Europe and political parties.

These people who namecall never actually argue the point but accuse the poster of being uneducated.

Unless mumsnet changes any form of debate on here is going to be boring.

OP posts:
PeachyPants · 17/05/2015 19:37

To be fair I've never thought that MN HQ play a part in censoring reasonable debate, the posts which I've seen deleted have crossed the line into being really offensive. My only bugbear is that they sometimes apply their standards selectively, I think posts which make offensive, discriminatory statements about older people get pulled (rightly so) but similar statements about children are left to stand.

ilovesooty · 17/05/2015 19:38

No neither do I. I disagree with her but she's entitled to say what she thinks without being accused of that.

crusts I don't see that as passive aggressive since the OP has obviously name changed.

Mintyy · 17/05/2015 19:42

When I asked if crusts was the op ... that was a joke. My silly old attempt at humour.

Crusty - you might prefer to be called bitch than stupid. I would prefer to be called stupid than bitch. Bitch is a word I just cannot stand.

It is impossible for Mumsnet to accommodate all of our foibles.

Still think op of this thread is goading, rather than making their first ever post or has forgotten their login. Just a hunch.

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 19:42

Yes she is and she's also entitled to say that she was probably hounded by more than a balanced amount. Therefore weighing it up she isn't being unreasonable at all.

When you asked whether I was the Op Minty you were obviously being passive aggressive.

Bitch is a word you cant stand, which is "your" thing not mine, so certain buttons have been pressed in your life not mine.

I think the OP in this thread has a point and I don't find it goading in the slightest due to being able to relate to her.

The fact that you think its her first ever post and commenting whether she has forgotten her log-in should neither be here nor there.

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 19:48

When did she say debate, are we on question time? she made a valid comment and has probably gone about her day/business, so what?

I was kicked off ages a couple of years ago when 'debating' with a regular. Didn't swear or get agressive. I just logged back on and was blocked. No email to say why Confused

Maybe the op changed because she thought she would be accused of being goady and other names by regulars - and she has.

MN Is judgemental and can get a bit rough but has so much more to offer than chat or AIBU.

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 19:57

Im reading that she feels others have a valid point and are shouted down. Im not sure what you're reading it like Mary. I know what she is saying but not? Isnt' that the essence of being a person not something thats just written?

PeachyPants · 17/05/2015 19:57

Tequilashotsfor1 that's interesting, did you ever get an explanation as to why you were banded or did you just keep trying to log back on and find it unlocked one day?

PeachyPants · 17/05/2015 19:58

banned obviously.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 17/05/2015 19:59

Oh bloody hell, more MN navel gazing.

There's more threads about MN itself than anything else at the moment.

Put it in Site Stuff. Oh, YABU.

Isnt that saying something rather loud and clear then?

LuisSuarezTeeth · 17/05/2015 20:02

Probably crustsaway

Bit dull though!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 17/05/2015 20:03

I think there's a good deal of support on AIBU as well as the bunfighty threads. Even on the bunfight threads there is still support.

This thread is also on AIBU and everybody seems to home in on this particular part of the board so, it can't be all bad, can it?

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 20:04

Do you not think being called an idiot is allowed? Do you think passive aggressive group humour is fine? I certainly don't and yes mumsnet really need to look at their "guidelines" again.

ilovesooty · 17/05/2015 20:05

I agree with Luiz

Surely it would be more effective to raise it in Site Stuff?

(Not that it's my intention to act as thread police, of course, before that comment's made)

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 20:08

Dull? There is a huge amount of nasty humour and put downs on here that really shouldnt be allowed, certain people that are never reigned in do it time and time again, others can never ever have a say, so changes may be to the fore. These people stick to the "guidelines" and are the ones that are rather trollish and goady.

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 20:10

Whos to say where it belongs? someone was asking if she was being unreasonable. Its evolved to this, so what?

ouryve · 17/05/2015 20:11

I hate it when Mumsnetters tell other Mumsnetters they're posting all wrong.
