To think you shouldn't insult someone just because they voted differently to you?

It feels like a lot of you would feel more at home in a dictatorship.

I've seen people being called stupid, selfish etc just because they decided to vote differently

I don't care who anyone voted for. I do care that we are a nation that allows everyone to vote for who they want without the threat of violence.

YABU. IT's a country that allows for free speech so I'll insult any stupid tool that voted UKIP, Tory, DUP, or any other wanker vote.

BTW, insulting someone isn't violence. Hmm And you should care who anyone else voted for.

Here here op. Some of the sheer sour grapes / nastiness of labour losers on here tonight has been mind boggling

It's a democracy. We can all vote. We all have a chance to change it.

Bullying tory / ukip / snp / other voters just because you don't agree with their policies is uncalled for

I don't like the Conservatives at all, but I know some very decent people who voted for them and I have seen some decent Conservative politicians.

I just don't happen to agree with them.

I totally agree with you. Some Labour supporters are not much better than brown shirts, using intimidation tactics to try and bully people to vote the way they want.

I suspect that may well have been a large factor in them losing. Hysterical student politics on Facebook, comparisons with Nazism. It doesn't make them an attractive party to vote for. They and their supporters seem to want to suppress any views apart from their own and it's rather scary.

I never said there was violence in this country, I said I care about the fact that we can vote here without that threat - some countries don't have that luxury.

If someone voted for their own self interests, that by definition is selfish. If they did so without thinking certain things through, or reading policies, that is stupid.

God, what happened to freedom of speech. I'm just telling it like it is.

How is it bullying to criticise someone for voting? Especially when the polls closed twelve hours ago. If they were stopping you entering the polling station fair enough but criticising on an Internet forum. Do you not understand free speech and debate are part of the democratic process?

Poor Tories - sadface. They don't just want to win, they want to be wuvved.

Accusing one party of intimidation for political ends is just as bad, imo. It isn't just Labour supporters: it's supporters from other parties, too - including Conservative.

Yanbu-I have it in RL too with my mum and brother who support opposing parties and both believe they are righteousness personified. It gets very wearing.

It's just sour grapes. I voted Labour last time but Conservative this time as I think that's best for the country.

I don't need posters telling me to hang my head in shame (that's mild compared with someone getting a teeny melodramatic yesterday saying that they were going to book graves for herself and her dd Hmm) if the Cons got back in.

Some people do vote selfishly, for both Labour and Conservatives. If you vote based on your own self-interest, I.e. How much money you'll have, that is selfish. Conversely, there are decent people making their decisions for how to vote based on what they think is the best interests of the country, again on both sides. There's a huge difference between studying the policies and economics and coming to different conclusions about what is best for the country overall and voting because someone promises you a tax cut.

I voted for a party who had the best policies for me, I knew they wouldn't win but I'm happy with my decision. It wasn't a controversial party.

I've had people telling me I shouldn't have voted for them as they wouldn't get in, and I should have voted tactically. That I'm stupid for voting for them.

I would never tell anyone they are stupid, it's personal choice.

There have been some nasty posts saying people obviously don't care about the country etc.

It's personal choice, and that's why we vote, we choose who we think would be best.

The level of aggression and rudeness from some Leftists has been astounding.

The arrogance that they showed probably swung a fair few votes to the Tories....

It's "people" like madreloco who have been spouting aggressive dribbling shite for the past few weeks, who come up with gems like -

Quite Rainbow - as a small business owner I voted for the party which weren't going to increase my tax bill by 50%.

DH already pays 50% tax on much of his income, we don't use the NHS or state schools so we're massively net contributors. Don't have a problem continuing to make a large contribution to the welfare of others by paying over £130k tax per annum but not happy about the prospect of paying any more thank you very much.
