To think you shouldn't insult someone just because they voted differently to you?

It feels like a lot of you would feel more at home in a dictatorship.

I've seen people being called stupid, selfish etc just because they decided to vote differently

I don't care who anyone voted for. I do care that we are a nation that allows everyone to vote for who they want without the threat of violence.

Do you know what, so many of the threads knocking around on MN today have done little more than make me feel like a good half of Labour, SNP, and TUSC voters are offensively bigoted.

As people keep pointing out on other threads, it's hardly the way to win more people over to voting for your party at the next election.

ibitemythumbatyou · 08/05/2015 15:26

I would love to be out celebrating if I'd got the result I wanted. Sad that you and the other Tories on this thread (and all the other similar threads) can only respond to a positive result by more bitching and complaining because not every single thing in the world is exactly the way you want it.

Confused Where have I said I voted for the Tories?

As I'm 100% certain that I didn't.

How very puzzling that you haven't mentioned any of the equally objectionable posts from Tory supporters that are littered around the site today.

Oh wait, don't tell me. You haven't seen any?

Justanotherlurker · 08/05/2015 15:30

If I think Tory voters are scum and poor haters why can't I say so?

You can, but it generally shows a lack of critical thinking, and is only slightly above calling someone you don't like a Poo-Poo head.

squoosh · 08/05/2015 15:31

People are bleating on and on whilst being selectively blind. Mean spirited posts are clearly not the preserve of Labour, SNP, and TUSC voters.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 08/05/2015 15:32

So in 5 years time you're standing in the ballot box and recalling an old thread on Mumsnet. And your vote will be decided by how super nice those posters were?

Huh.

ibitemythumbatyou · 08/05/2015 15:33

How very puzzling that you haven't mentioned any of the equally objectionable posts from Tory supporters that are littered around the site today.

Did I say it was exclusively Labour? No. I actually never mentioned any particular parties.

Unless you can point out where I have?

Seems you came to the conclusion that it was Labour supporters on your own.

ibitemythumbatyou just because you started the thread doesn't mean all responses are directed at you. My post was for Thurlow.

Iwasbornin1993 · 08/05/2015 15:39

Well said OP.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 08/05/2015 15:39

Tondelayo
Don't be so simplistic. As I posted before, Labour have got it badly wrong. In England the Tories and UKIP won around 55% of the vote. Labour is going to have to engage with the people who didn't vote for them in a constructive way if it wants to have a chance at the next election.

What do you want to achieve? If its for Labour to do better next time, how do you think throwing insults at people who didn't vote Labour this time will achieve this?

usualsuspect333 · 08/05/2015 15:40

Tory voters are poo poo heads.

Anyway my FB feed is full of slagging off the Tories posts, so that's making me feel better.

IKnowIAmButWhatAreYou · 08/05/2015 15:41

TondelayoSchwarzkopf

My God, you've really taken it hard haven't you!

Tell you what, if it all goes tits up like you say, I'll let you say "I told you so" in 5 years time.

I've invested far too much time on these childish threads today, off to eat some babies & spit on the odd nun - as us Tories do Grin

Have a damn fine weekend folks! Wine

ibitemythumbatyou · 08/05/2015 15:42

What do you want to achieve? If its for Labour to do better next time, how do you think throwing insults at people who didn't vote Labour this time will achieve this?

Exactly. If I was going to consider another party in the future I'd gladly listen to reasonable points given to me, not just being called a selfish cunt because I didn't vote the way they wanted.

I agree with you OP.

I believe that instead of accusing other voters of ignorance they should look to leaders of the parties they support and ask them why nobody voted for them.

It was Millibands responsibility to get the electorate to vote Labour.

squoosh · 08/05/2015 15:46

For God's sake. It's been less than 24 hours. I really don't think Labour supporters are quite at the 'let's start getting people on side for the next election' mode yet.

They're in rant mode. Stop being so prissy.

starwarslegoboy · 08/05/2015 15:47

you don't have to wait too long to see what voting Tory will result in...

Thurlow · 08/05/2015 15:48

So being in rant mode means that it's ok to continue with the insults against anyone who didn't vote Labour?

Right. OK. Well, next time I'm pissed off at something, I'll come on a insult everyone who didn't agree with me Confused

usualsuspect333 · 08/05/2015 15:49

This is a very prissy thread.

When did MN become so right wing anyway?

mummyonamission · 08/05/2015 15:49

No Your not, unless they voted UKIP...no excuse for that type of ignorance

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 08/05/2015 15:50

squoosh
They can rant but are they ranting at the right people? Why aren't they ranting at the Labour party leadership who sat in their comfortable MC London bubble and failed to engage with a large number of voters?

ThursdayLast · 08/05/2015 15:50

I think they're ranting at the wrong folk is all.

I fared even worse with a wanted yellow vote Grin at labour got some seats!

Madbengalmum · 08/05/2015 15:51

Whilst it is clear that the political ideolgy of many on mumsnet is that of favouring the left. Being rude to others because their views are different,is just a measure of the lack of mental capacity of the objector.
It is really getting tiresome and pathetic.

ThursdayLast · 08/05/2015 15:51
  • wasted yellow vote
Thurlow · 08/05/2015 15:52

Ditto Thursday Grin My constituency had more UKIP votes than Lib Dem!
