AIBU to not understand why anyone can vote Labour?

Never mind the fact that they destroyed the economy, never mind the fact that they are joining up with the SNP & never mind the fact that their only policy is to make whatever promises will get them into power...if they do get into power we get Ed Miliband as Prime Minister!

This is the man who failed to eat a bacon sandwich, who sniffs peoples hair on TV, who has 2 kitchens in a £3 million house and talks about poverty! This is the man who redid his fathers will to reduce inheritance tax yet bangs on, endlessly, about tax avoidance. This is the man who though talking to Russell Brand was the way to help him appeal to the 'yoof'. This is the man who stabbed his brother in the back to become leader of the Labour Party.

Okay there are other reasons I fail to understand why anyone would vote Labour, North Staffordshire NHS, Rotherham Council and so one. But realistically its the embarrassment I'm going to feel on May 8th when he's gurning outside 10 Downing Street!

having now read a bit of the thread - I agree this is a media plant looking for how to win over voters. So what I suggest you take from this is that while you can fool some people anyone who actually understands economics is not taken in by your attempts to blame Labour for the economic mess your banker backers got us into.

As it happens I'm not a fan of Ed Milliband. However the Labour party policies actually make far more economic sense. Your party made this recession worse by taking money from the poor to give to the rich. Poor people spend their money in our economy, not overseas. You've increased government borrowing, it would not have been at these levels under a Labour government. You allow political doctrine to get in the way of sound economics and you are ruining the country.

I'm also nearing pension age - and the attempts you have made to buy the votes of the elderly by exempting them from obvious cuts disgust me. I realise that you have made stealth cuts - you're also destroying the NHS.

Comments about bacon sandwiches actually show the nasty party for what it is and just make Cameron look slimier.

"Obviously its not a great forum for considered debate or long arguments"

No, no, there's plenty of room for you, as a politics nerd, to explain to us how Labour caused the recession. Go nuts.

Or were you expecting Mumsnetters to debate at the level of Patsyandeddie, and be in awe of your bacon-related wisdom? Hmm

BettyCatKitten · 01/05/2015 10:25

I don't understand why anyone can vote conservative!

Agree completely with alreadytaken, another economic point that often gets lost in the chorus of 'Labour spent all teh money'; if you put a pound into the pocket of someone who hasn't got many, it's more likely to be put straight back into the UK economy. As opposed to letting the already-wealthy accumulate more, which tends to go offshore or be sunk into eg property, pushing up prices.

But that's taken me a full three lines to explain; it's true, but it's not a good story.

Lol LineRunner!

Benefit sanctions.....which have impacted upon the poorest and many disabled in society. That's why I will be voting Labour,

hildasmuriel · 01/05/2015 10:32

You base your vote on someone not eating a bacon butty, I will base mine on policies, values and what I feel is the best option for the nation.

Toocold · 01/05/2015 11:08

OP, do you agree with the bedroom tax?, cuts to disability welfare?, the biggest ever use of Foodbanks? I work in a professional job and day in day out I see the appalling state the Conservatives have made on peoples lives. I live in a Tory strong hold area and will never ever vote for them. I grew up under Thatcher, we were homeless at one point, that never leaves you. Your reasons are ignorant at best and downright idiocy at worst. If you had a valid reason based on policies, I might consider your views. It truly scares me that people out there will base their views on how someone looks or eats a sandwich!

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 01/05/2015 11:18

The Tories have cut your employment rights. The catastrophic damage they have done to years of hard-won employment protection and rights is appalling.

If anyone thinks that the Tories - and certainly Cameron - gives one single fuck about you or your family, beyond trying to weasel a vote out of you, then think again.

There will be more cuts, more poverty, more children going hungry, before Cameron, Osbourne and the monstrous IDS are content.

The Nasty Party are Nastier than ever this time around.

vitamink · 01/05/2015 11:19

They are all rubbish. It doesn't matter who wins, you can be your life that the rich will get richer and everyone else will get poorer. This is the way it is with Labour or the Tories. Zero difference.

Guillemot01 · 01/05/2015 11:20

Why does it matter how he looks eating a bacon sandwich?!

MsPoodleLover · 01/05/2015 11:59

I will be voting Labour.

Just a minor point - Buds you said shat on the working man. I cannot believe in this day and age people still use that term 'working man'. I am 55 years old and have worked since I was 14 years old and paid tax and raised 4 children. Believe me, I have been as shat on by the Tories as much as any man! May be minor point but I get sick and tired of it.
