AIBU to not understand why anyone can vote Labour?

Never mind the fact that they destroyed the economy, never mind the fact that they are joining up with the SNP & never mind the fact that their only policy is to make whatever promises will get them into power...if they do get into power we get Ed Miliband as Prime Minister!

This is the man who failed to eat a bacon sandwich, who sniffs peoples hair on TV, who has 2 kitchens in a £3 million house and talks about poverty! This is the man who redid his fathers will to reduce inheritance tax yet bangs on, endlessly, about tax avoidance. This is the man who though talking to Russell Brand was the way to help him appeal to the 'yoof'. This is the man who stabbed his brother in the back to become leader of the Labour Party.

Okay there are other reasons I fail to understand why anyone would vote Labour, North Staffordshire NHS, Rotherham Council and so one. But realistically its the embarrassment I'm going to feel on May 8th when he's gurning outside 10 Downing Street!

YaTalkinToMe · 30/04/2015 18:58

This thread has made me chuckle, the lone thread within the tide of not understanding how people can vote cons Grin

Redlocks28 · 30/04/2015 18:58

I could say the same about the Conservatives. I won't, though. Because I'm not an arse.

OftheTwilighttheDarkness · 30/04/2015 18:58

I think you lack imagination.
The world wide banking crisis caused the recession. I do agree the labour govt could have done more wrt regs etc.

SingingHinnies · 30/04/2015 18:59

LineRunner what are you struggling with?

Mehitabel6 · 30/04/2015 18:59

I never understand why people feel they have to understand i.e. agree.
We are all different- and much better for it.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 30/04/2015 18:59

Have you seen the Promised Land Singing?

Or should that be Promis'ed Lan'd?

CupidStuntSurvivor · 30/04/2015 19:00

We should obviously pack it I'm with the political lobbying and just get party leaders to televise themselves participating in a doughnut eating contest. The public can then vote in whoever looks the most dignified.

SingingHinnies · 30/04/2015 19:01

I'm on my phone, did i put an apostrophe in the wrong place?

FaFoutis · 30/04/2015 19:02

I'm voting labour because I can see past all the crap in the right wing press.

Tondelayo that make me cough out my tea.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/04/2015 19:02

Who can I rely on for my bacon sandwich eating needs? WHO? Hold on, I can handle that myself.

Oh, and the international economic collapse probably wasn't solely Gordon Brown's fault but I can see why you would be confused.

DoraGora · 30/04/2015 19:02

Ya, I think he should have used more ketchup. You could maybe swing my vote with more discussion of tea towels, though.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 30/04/2015 19:02

Impressive post, OP Hmm

He's the most intellectually blessed of all the party leaders. I don't give a shit about the pathetic 'bacon sandwich' crap. I care about people and policies.

David Cameron has presided over the demonisation of the poor, and has chipped away at worker's rights and the welfare system, as well as unleashing the appalling IDS on the electorate. Cameron is the very worst kind of Tory.

I am in Nick Clegg's constituency.

I will vote Labour.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/04/2015 19:03

I can't believe I x-posted with another TP named MNer. What are the chances?

Good name OftheTwilighttheDarkness. Grin

CumberCookie · 30/04/2015 19:04

Is this reverse? because your arguments are really stupid.

And anyway I will be voting labour because I agree with the parties policies and like the current MP - I think they have worked hard for the community. It's got little to do with the leader. We're not Americans, we are not electing a president.

thehumanjam · 30/04/2015 19:05

What is the point in this type of thread?

There are lots of threads where people are expressing opinions and debating. This is isn't one of them.

We live in a democracy. Get used to it.

BudsBeginingSpringinSight · 30/04/2015 19:05

David Cameron has presided over the demonisation of the poor

A poor that grew substantially under Labours last long reign, they presided over the gap growing between rich and poor like never before. Child povery grew.

Don't forget that.

beginnerrunner · 30/04/2015 19:05

I am voting labour. It pisses me off completely when people try to tell me not to vote for X or y. I'm able to read up and vote for whoever the hell I want. The economy was buggered because of greed, not because of one particular party. Kindly post your drivel elsewhere and vote for whoever the hell you want to and so will we.

OftheTwilighttheDarkness · 30/04/2015 19:06

The thing is just because you vote a certain way, it is not that difficult to understand that other people will see things differently to you or will have different experiences that will cause them to vote differently.
It is like saying 'i don't understand why anyone would eat bacon' or 'I don't understand why anyone would go to Tennerife'.

AtiaoftheJulii · 30/04/2015 19:06

Singing are you saying that building council houses, etc are vanity projects?

DoraGora · 30/04/2015 19:07

Numbers and expansion, especially of children living below the poverty line is a real and practical issue. The relative wealth gap is an intellectual concern.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 30/04/2015 19:07

Yes very true Buds.

except child poverty declined under Labour and grew again under the Tories.

Don't forget that.

CumberCookie · 30/04/2015 19:07

BUDS and the conservatives refuse to even believe that families relying on food banks are in work! They keep banging on about how they want work to pay and people shouldn't live on benefits when there are many families living in poverty where the adults are working!

Tiredemma · 30/04/2015 19:08

Pathetic.

Try harder.

OftheTwilighttheDarkness · 30/04/2015 19:09

Obviously great minds think alike MrsTP (and have a love of good books).

Bunbaker · 30/04/2015 19:09

"Never mind the fact that they destroyed the economy,"

I don't think they did it single handedly. Anyone who believes that needs re-educating.
