A continuation of this thread, which is far too good to just die now that it's reached 1000 comments!

What amazes me is why he agreed to appear at that event Flippingada? He clearly thought he was above doing things like that. Perhaps it was just cos it gave him the opportunity to be a cunt to even more people?

sourdrawers · 23/04/2015 17:31

David Van Day from Dollar, goes in my sisters butchers. He's speaks quite loudly and sort of luvvy-like, but nice enough apparently!

blondiewoowoo1 · 23/04/2015 17:31

Sir Alex Ferguson - absolutely lovely, really nice guy.
Ryan Giggs - Seemed nice enough, quiet though.
Jean Claude Van Damme - very quiet and very small!
DH met Gary Barlow, Olly Murs, John Bishop and said they were all really nice and friendly.
JLS - 2 out of 4 nice.....
A well known ex radio 1 dj was a complete twat apparently

Paul Martin (Flog It) is lovely. We went to a recording of the programme and he spent ages letting people have their photos taken with him. The director was trying to shoo away two elderly ladies as they were getting behind schedule but lovely Paul stopped him and said "this is important to them, without these people you wouldn't have a programme". I liked him anyway but even more so after that.

Hidingmyidentity · 23/04/2015 17:47

Melanie C was in an exercise class I attended. She was absolutely lovely, really pretty & chatty to a couple of women who approached her. She was also very good at yoga, unlike me who came away with a stiff neck that took months to heal.

flippinada · 23/04/2015 17:57

No idea sourdrawers, but now my memory has been jogged I'm going to ask my mum what she remembers.

turningvioletviolet · 23/04/2015 18:10

the best i can come up with is Rafa Benitez (ex Liverpool manager). He's our local celeb (his children go to my dcs schools) and it's always DH's best moment of the day when he sees Mr B out and about and Mr B acknowledges DH first as he knows DH by sight. Anyway, Mr B seems a perfectly pleasant chap. Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush are also locals and are well thought of but then i'm a Liverpool fan so i won't have a bad word said

DramaQueenofHighCs · 23/04/2015 18:52

OOH yes ItsAllKickingOffPru Michaela Strachan is totally lovely! She was doing a 'jungle adventure' for kids at a local shopping centre a few years back where they walked round to different 'animal stations' to see models and hear facts about different animals. She was so great with all the kids chatting away to them between 'stations' and listening to all they had to say, even when they interrupted her during her stories she was lovely to them. My DS (who was about 3 or 4 at the time) took a total shine to her and held her hand a lot of the time while walking and she didn't mind at all! (Got a lovely pic of them walking together looking like they'd known each other forever.) She was great afterwards signing copies of her book for all the children who had bought them or the 'event passes' for those who hasn't and chatted to them all. She didn't even mind this (at the time) 20 something year old mother going all fangirl on her as I had such a crush on her as a kid and still do
Another reason I think she's wonderful is that her PA/the centre manager/whoever told her just before the signing session that they wanted her to have a couple of publicity photos taken for the local paper with a couple of the kids and she immediatly asked us if we'd mind one of them being DS!! Grin Lovely Lovely woman! Grin

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 23/04/2015 19:08

All those years being nice to young DC! We need to stick her in the MN Famous Hall Of Fame with Anthony Head!

DramaQueenofHighCs · 23/04/2015 19:19

Yes we certainly do!! (And if we do I'll tweet her and see if she replies like AH did! )

TomCruiseCreepsMeOut · 23/04/2015 19:24

DramaQueen that is a lovely story. Michaela has always been my favourite celebrity, ever since I was a kid and she did the Really Wild Show. I also loved her on the Elephant Diaries series. She just has such a warmth and kindness that just emanates from her.

Halsall · 23/04/2015 19:27

I haven't met AH either BUT a good friend of mine has actually it's his wife she knows better but that would spoil the story and.....you know what I'm going to say, don't you?

Yep, he is lovely Grin

Idontseeanydragons · 23/04/2015 19:35

I have more Smile
A friend of mine spent an entire drunk evening slagging off Prince Andrew as a total and utter twat of the highest order. Rude, arrogant and sneery at the 'little people'.
Prince Phillip - a relative met him through work having been injured doing a particular sport. He asked about her injury and then followed it up a week later asking how she was doing and sent her a particular item to make the sport safer for her via her workplace. We all have a soft spot for him Smile
George Osborne - very rushed and slightly harassed looking but the devout Labour supporter who met him recently said he was actually a nice enough bloke.
Various premier league footballers from many moons ago - All lovely but this was the start of the famous WAG phase and their other halves were generally quite snotty.

Birdinthebush · 23/04/2015 19:41

Not met them but friends have

The hairy bikers. Great exactly as they are on TV
Chef James Martin from Saturday Kitchen . Bit of a diva
John Tarode . Arrogant and very rude
Patrick Kilelty is supposedly really nasty in the flesh
Paloma Faith . Very genuine and friendly

M

EquinoxEclipse · 23/04/2015 20:01

I don't get the Donna Air thing Confused What kind of circles must she mix in to pull these blokes?

dougierose · 23/04/2015 20:03

A friend of mine works for a mega film company and she has loads of stories from her in-house PR dept.

The best one is about an American who beats up call girls in his hotel bedroom. Apparently he's running out of places to stay as the London hotels will only accept him once.

He's gone off the boil a bit now, anyway. That pretty face isn't so pretty when you're old.

dougierose · 23/04/2015 20:05

I worked as a publishing publicity girl in my pre-mum life. I'm compiling my list.

The girl I sat next to worked with Alan Titchmarsh and she adored him. He used to send her hampers each year which was v nice.

However, in the meantime, I did a book with Jeremy Clarkson and he was absolutely fine - it was his wife who was the difficult one.

flamingoland · 23/04/2015 20:06

How sad am I that I am really chuffed a thread I started now needs a thread part 2!! Grin

Sansarya · 23/04/2015 20:06

dougierose was that an actor who liked to stay in places for nine and a half weeks?

OP posts:
dougierose · 23/04/2015 20:07

Nope.

He is occasionally confused with a Mutant Ninja Turtle.

dougierose · 23/04/2015 20:09

Flamingoland - I used to live near there. Ahh.. memories ....

DramaQueenofHighCs · 23/04/2015 20:14

TomCruiseCreepsMeOut - yes Michaela does radiate warmth and kindness. As I said she was so great with the kids and parents too. The kids were hanging on her every word.

ArcheryAnnie · 23/04/2015 20:19

I have been googling ninja turtles but am none the wiser.

DidgeDoolittle · 23/04/2015 20:24

Doug, am I right in thinking ex pretty American could also have been a famous artist?
