A continuation of this thread, which is far too good to just die now that it's reached 1000 comments!

Equinox I think she has re-invented herself as a socialite/lady who lunches type. And the Middletons are very upwardly-mobile types so she probably fits right in.

IsabellaofFrance · 23/04/2015 20:28

Think of their names Annie!

flippinada · 23/04/2015 20:37

I've just worked out who that actor is. Yuck, those poor women. What a shit.

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/04/2015 20:44

I live in Bath so am utterly disappointed that I've only seen Mr Head a couple of times. He seemed very charming though.

Phillipa Forrester also very lovely despite what was said on last thread.

Sansarya · 23/04/2015 20:54

I still can't figure out who doug's actor is. Ninja Turtles? Can you give us another clue?

Natalie Cassidy. Lived next door to my grandparents. She was lovely to them, popped round a fair bit for cups of tea, and they thought she was wonderful. I was pleased when she moved - I was worried for a bit that they were going to replace me as they'd found a grand daughter they liked better!

Sansarya · 23/04/2015 20:55

AHHHH! Ok, got it. Shame he didn't really go down with that big ship.

John Cleese. Nearly ran him over in a golf buggy. He was lovely and very chatty. And another vote for Princess Anne being very knowledgable and friendly.

PaulineFossil · 23/04/2015 21:05

Don't know if she's been mentioned already, or even if she counts as a celeb (or if she would want to) but Mary Beard is quite simply one of the most wonderful people you could hope to meet.

FriendlyLadybird · 23/04/2015 21:07

No, really? Such a good actor -- I'm always defending him to my DH. Not any more though.

dougierose · 23/04/2015 21:08

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back - kiddy bedtime and all that.

I can't possibly comment on something that is third hand gossip and possibly slanderous of titanic proportions.

Sansarya · 23/04/2015 21:09

It's very disappointing to hear but given that he's always been a bit of a modelizer I'm not that surprised. Despite his claim to be an environmentalist he clearly doesn't think much of he women in that environment :(

AIBU but my DH has just walked through the door and i left him a nice salad in the fridge and all he said was "where are the chips?"

Loving this thread!
Back in the mid 90s I was a massive blur fan and went to as many gigs as possible despite being still at school. I met all the band on numerous occasions outside venues and the like. They were all extremely nice. Damon is reputed to be a bit of a dick but he was always lovely and totally gorgeous. My fave however was (and is) graham coxon! Despite being quite shy and private he was unfailingly nice and kind! To the extent that he actually sent me VIP passes to a very big famous festival (I lived nearby). Not only did I get to go backstage etc I also got to swan around with a thing round my neck that said 'guest of blur'. Whilst wandering around who should I bump into but a group of the 'cool kids' from my school (needless to say I wasn't one if them) and it was a moment of sweet triumph, when they asked what I was doing there,to wave my guest pass and say airily that 'graham coxon sent me some passes so I thought I'd swing by ....' Still makes me smile to this day to think of their gobsmacked expressions!!
So for this graham coxon I am eternally grateful!!

dougierose · 23/04/2015 21:10

He's not even famous. Although he does look like Benedict Cumberbatch.

dougierose · 23/04/2015 21:20

However, to let him off the hook, he was at Cambridge with David Mitchell, Robert Webb and Olivia Colman. However, he never went to see the Cambridge Footlights as, in his words, "They weren't famous then...."

Olivia Colman was at the same College where some v good friends of his were (and where he spent rather too much time) - I can't believe that he would have walked past her in the corridor and didn't think "You're going to be an epic lady in 20 years time."

However, he DID share a staircase with some boys who asked him out to the pub on their first night - but DH declined as he wanted to sort out his bedroom and they never became proper friends after that. Those guys then went on to found Innocent Smoothies. So, for all you mums who moan about the state of your children's bedrooms, just remember that a tidy bedroom is not necessarily the way to a tidy fortune.

vienna1981 · 23/04/2015 21:23

I haven't met Anthony Head.

Clawdy · 23/04/2015 21:33

Some years ago my friend flew out to the Grand Prix on a small plane as part of a group which included Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall and their small children. She said Jerry Hall had the toddler in her arms the whole time - and nipped round duty-free! When they arrived she saw them in the little bar,and heard Mick J. say to the small boy "No, you've had enough fizzy drinks now, have some fruit-juice or water." Somehow she didn't expect to hear him being an ordinary, sensible dad!

Newnameforamoment · 23/04/2015 21:42

N/c as I don't want this linked with my normal name! It would out me big time.
You will have to be of a certain era for this to mean anything....

Alex Papps. Played Frank Morgan from Home and Away. I've known him for nearly 20 years. He's great - funny, very heavily into environmental issues and animal welfare - an all round brilliant guy.

Sansarya · 23/04/2015 21:50

I remember him! I was back in Oz last year and put Playschool on for DS only to find it was being hosted by Alex and Justine Clarke, aka Frank and Roo from Home and Away.

That's horrific about the one-that-saved-Kate-Winslet if that's true dougie. Potential new thread - Aibu to be so shocked about that?

Gary oldman was filming where I live, I didn't meet him but my friend turned down hanging round with him whilst he was bored for going to her university lecture. I don't know what she was thinking...

wwbuffydo · 23/04/2015 22:27

This thread is soooo addictive! I have had to completely reorganise the guest list for my fantasy dinner party as a result of the revelations! My crap celeb spots (heat) are all pretty crap ones.....
All time favorite: Mo Mowlam. We did a thing together when I was young in 1997 and she was absolutely lovely. She sent me a letter afterwards which I wish I was wise enough to have kept.
Worst: Keith Allen- Lily's dad. He was swanning around with an entourage and just totally up himself. I hope the years have mellowed him.
Weirdest: true fact- my mum once pit me on the phone to Eddie izzard because I had said in passing that I thought he was quite funny. It was a very sweet gesture, and he really tried to have a normal conversation with me but we were both hopelessly bemused. He had been doing marathons, I had been doing housework.. There wasn't much common ground!
And finally: I saw Alex.Salmond going somewhere with an aide, who was piled high and weighed down with his papers, bags and so on. He kindly stepped to one side so she could press the button on the lift for him. Charming!

wwbuffydo · 23/04/2015 22:31

PS despite living my life based on the teachings of Giles ( see my name), I've never met him. I would quite possibly implode if I did.

Ketchuphidestheburntbits · 23/04/2015 22:33

Michael Portillo is genuinely nice. I saw him in a supermarket a few years ago and said hello and told him I enjoyed his travel programmes. He was very chatty and seemed pleased to be distracted from doing the shopping!

showtunesgirl · 24/04/2015 00:38

Peter Capaldi bent over my DD's pram and said hello to get most cheerfully.

And I went to see a play a mate was in and had drinks with one of his best mates afterwards. That was Alan Rickman. Grin
