A continuation of this thread, which is far too good to just die now that it's reached 1000 comments!

Surely re: the crisp munching ex footballer, the press could just renege on the deal, as his son must now be in his '20's (and by all accounts a massive twit). I do think that the press sometimes en masse decide to protect a celebrity and not print unsavoury allegations, maybe because they are afraid they won't get anything back, or they are too powerful, I don't know. I would have thought some of the Murdoch press would be gagging to stick the knife into a BBC presenter though.

Whitershadeofpale · 26/04/2015 12:13

The daily mail do do a lot of odd stories sometimes alluding to things they can't report. Takes this weird story I linked to on another thread, for example www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-149725/Seb-Coe-splits-wife-13-years.html.

WeeMadArthur · 26/04/2015 12:29

Whitershadeofpale do you mean the 'services to William Hague' bit?

redshoeblueshoe · 26/04/2015 12:34

That is weird Whiter - "services to William Hague" ? ? ? They did another one recently about a multi-millionaire businessman, household name who has a super injunction - and a massive coke habit and shags around a lot I thought it was verging on the ridiculous Grin

Coumarin · 26/04/2015 12:46

Lucid What did you put into google? I can't find much.

FreudiansSlipper · 26/04/2015 12:49

The two men remain close friends, with a shared interest in judo - during one of their bouts at the Budokai Club in Chelsea, Hague caused Coe momentarily to lose consciousness because of the strength of his stranglehold Grin

Sounds like Seb earned his peerage Grin

Whitershadeofpale · 26/04/2015 13:30

Yes wee very weird to have so many references to WH in a story about Seb Coe getting divorced.

YouTheCat · 26/04/2015 13:52

Hague had very close links with a certain dead dj who was thoroughly evil.

ememem84 · 26/04/2015 13:57

In no particular order, I've met:

Henry cavill
Russell Crowe - both at super man premiere here. Both very lovely.

Amy wine house in a bar in Camden.

Saw vic reeves buying shoes in gatwick airport.

Sansarya · 26/04/2015 14:01

My friend's mum always claimed that back in the 60s she went on a date with a weird DJ who kept talking about his mum in a very sexual way. Guess who that was??

Lucky escape there then.

Financeprincess · 26/04/2015 14:14

Re the crisp eating footballer - just remembered this. I was at Henley Regatta about 15 years ago in the posh enclosure. He was there with Neil Morrissey and Martin Clunes. The footballer and Morrissey were complete arses - lechy, drunk and rude to the waitresses - whilst Clunes just looked embarrassed by their behaviour.

GraceGrape · 26/04/2015 14:23

IDS came to give a talk at my DH's school. Unsurprisingly, he was arrogant and humourless. He arrived (very) late and when one of the students asked "How do you intend to run the country if you can't turn up on time?" he was unimpressed.

I'd tell you but legally it might be suicide for me to do so.

bluesbaby · 26/04/2015 15:09

I haven't really had many full on conversations with the celebs I've met!

I once went to a celeb bash and barely recognised anyone Blush

The only remarkable person I guess is Anthony Hopkins. Once filmed him. Very obliging and normal! Surprisingly large.

I've met Christine Kubrick a couple of times (wife of Stanley) - crikey she was quite scary and came across quite mad.

Years ago I had a few pints with Keith Chegwin. Didn't know he was supposed to be sober at the time! He was a bit of a knob.

sourdrawers · 26/04/2015 15:55

Did someone say Chris Robshaw was really nice? I've suuuuuch a crush on him. No, don't tell me, you'll only make it worse.

MrsTrentReznor · 26/04/2015 17:51

sourdrawers I've not spoken to him, but I've walked past him and he is much, much more handsome in the flesh! Grin

catgirl1976 · 26/04/2015 18:20

I saw your DH recently MrsT, but he was on stage performing so I didn't get to meet him :(

Grin
deadduck · 26/04/2015 20:09

Billy Idol treated my daughter to oysters and champagne she didn't really know who he was at first

DieDeutschLehrerin · 26/04/2015 21:11

I saw Kerry Katona at a motorway services about 10yrs ago. She was looking at the magazines. Very tiny, slim and pretty. Quite softly spoken and very normal. Not looking for anyone to recognise her and just getting on with it. Let me go in front of her in the queue as she hadn't decided yet.

Met Prince Philip at my DofE presentation and as pps have said he is much more softly spoken that I ever imagined, and shorter too.

Met Prince Edward and Sophie at a DofE award ball. They were very nice and friendly, even when one of the girls said she liked her dress and asked her where she got it from. They had a good old boogie on the dance floor with everyone for quite some time and I have some amusing pics of 2 royals dancing in the middle of a load of 18/19yr olds.

Russell T Davies spoke at our school prize day once post Queer as Folk but pre Dr Who. He was really interesting but it was pretty obvious from what he said that he'd hated being at our school.

I was in Superdrug in Swansea once looking at moisturiser when I was aware if tgis presence to my left. looked up to see Colin Charvis (ex Wales Rugby International) choosing handcream. Man mountain is an accurate description.

Caught (separate) flights back from Berlin with Jamie Cullum and Suzy Quattro. both seemed very nice and ordinary although JC seemed to have more of an entourage and seemed to want more people to notice hime. Suzy Quattro just sat at the gate with everyone else and read her book.

Can't think of anyone else.

MrsTrentReznor · 27/04/2015 08:27

Catgirl I've been to loads of his shows! I'm not sure I'd really want to actually meet him and shatter the illusion. He might be moody!
He's so wonderfully sullen... Grin

CandyApocalypse · 27/04/2015 09:01

Long time ago now. Pamela Stephenson had released a book about her husband and I picked up a copy of her book from the display at the front and was reading the back. I heard someone behind me say, 'you don't want to read about him, he's shit'. Turned around and it was Billy Connolly. Lovely man, very witty and charming.

I met Jamie Baulch (the runner) when I was a teenager. He was nice enough, but a bit distracted as he had come to see my boss who was his ex girlfriend. All got a bit awkward in the end.

Randomly met the guys from McFly who were completely lovely and having a quiet drink after a show. I tried to leave them to it but they insisted on chatting for ages. Really nice guys.

Bill Bailey knocked my shopping out of my hands while rushing through London. Very, very apologetic and sweet.

I have a friend who works in London and has met a load of celebs through her job. I shall have to ask her for some stories. I do remember that she says Kiefer Sutherland is beautiful and very kind. She hasn't met ASH though. Another friend recently met and took a picture with Craig Charles who was amazingly drunk at the time.

As for nastiest. I was once out with friends when a guy approached and was very pushy and kept asking to buy me a drink. Was especially keen when he learned I was also Welsh. Was quite drunk and really grabby. I could see my friends shooting me looks, but had no idea why. He kept asking if I knew who he was and I said I had no idea. When I eventually got away from him and returned to my friends they told me he played for Manchester United. I hate football so had no idea who he was. My brother was very cross with me when he found out. No idea if it was the drink or just how he is normally though.

redshoeblueshoe · 27/04/2015 09:36

Candy -clearly that was an old man who slept with his DB's wife, and anyone else who is willing. Sadly he is being groomed to be manager.

Pinksuitcase · 27/04/2015 11:29

All staying inthe same hotel as me were

Jonny Vegas, lovely funny bloke, liked a drink tho

Vic Reeves, very tall and a bit quiet, his wife Nancy was lovely tho, asked if she could borrow my hairbrush in the loos

Paul Whitehouse, very funny.

David Threlfall - Frank Gallagher in Shameless, with his family on our flight to Croatia on honeymoon, sat next to DH on plane, was lovely, as were his wife and kids, he and DH had massive conversation about History!

DH met Island Fisher and said she was lovely, but teeny tiny and Hugh Jackman who was really nice and normal but had a pa who tried to inflate his own (pa's) self importance

Richard Brandon just lovely so is his wife, mum and PA.
